In The Tangled Web, the story of Arachne and Athena, Arachne was punished. She was boasting that she was a better weaver than Athena and she portrayed the gods and goddesses as angry and foolish. For this, Athena turned Arachne into a spider. A possible theme of this myth is that you should not boast that you are better than those that are superior to you, or they may show you how small you can be!

I read a story about the Greek god of blacksmithing when he was born his mother thought he was so ugly that she threw him out of Olympus but,he got revenge in the end he seemed to be very good at crafting and gave it to any one who showed him kindness the ocean nymphs who raised him soon had lots of beautiful bling.Hera saw this bling and thought only a god with such skill could make something so beautiful she suspected it was made by her son Hephaestus he then made her a throne and when she sat in it she was trapped. She was later let out because the party god made amends with him i think the theme of the story is if you don't treat people with kindness one day you will be not treated with kindness. Also this is probably how the gods got most of their stuff.

In the story Mooncakes Wu-Gang was given a task. The task was to chop down a tree with an ax. He thought it was a simple task but when he started to chop it wouldn't start to break. The story says he is still on the moon to this day trying to at least put a dent into the tree. The theme of this selection is that something is always harder than it looks.

In the story Why The Crocodile Has a Wide Mouth. The goddess of the water said to the king of the land "Come to my kingdom whenever you will my waves will be calm my animals will be gentle." So the king and his youngest son walked down to the river his son went for a swim. When the boy was swimming something started to pull him down the boy was yelling to his father but the father had went away from the shore the whole river was full of sorrow for what the creature had down it lifted the boy gently and bore him to the feet of the goddess of the water. His eyes were closed and his face was white for he was dead. the goddess of the water was vary sad she did not think any of her animals could do such a cruel thing she said "the king may not know about this and the boy shall not remember what has happened." Then she put her hand on his head and whispered some words of magic into his ear. "Open your eyes soon they were wide open You went for a swim did the water pleas you." Said the goddess of the water. "Yes." Said the boy.
