This quote stood out to me because I didn't know that the dad was in the air force but also, because I think that the Dad might have a little PTSD and that's why it makes him act aggressive and makes him drink or smoke a lot. I picked this quote because I feel like when people are drunk, it really reveals the kind of person they are. This line stood out to me because Jeannette's dad is talking about all of these marvelous plans for the future and telling his kids and himself that these plans are realistic and going to happen. This quote stood out to me because even though the kids see the horrible influence in the father they still don't feel different about him they love him and think their dad is perfect. I think its probably due to the fact that they are kids they don't understand what's going on. From what I've seen the father hasn't hit the kids I think which is a good thing.

Jeanette really looks up to her father it seems, but she doesn't really consider his drinking problem. It's just a little bit of a situation she says. But her family decides to just handle it and accept that situation. She mostly discusses the great things about her dad, but even when she does that it feels like the dad is a bit distant from the family. The dad does all these things but we don't really know how her siblings and mom feel.

Her dad seems like the kind of "good"but  Fatherly  drinker,He has his bad moments but he never beat his kids or treated his family badly.
