Just because they didn't have as nice of cars as the Socs, they didn't have as nice of clothes as the Socs. So they were discriminated and called them greasers. The greasers were discriminated socially and because they lived in poverty. Then when the little girl went into the restaurant dressed as though she was lost and waiting for her mom, everyone wanted to talk to her. But when she was dressed as though she was homeless and wanted food, everyone did not want to even look at her, and even one man told her to get out. In the article is says "Our findings suggest that the stigma associated with poverty can lead to class discrimination, which, over time, can impact an individual's health." which means that teens that live in poverty and are being discriminated.
