Going into this I was very familiar with 4-5 year olds but nothing younger. One thing that will always still with me is learning about infants as active meaning makers. Infants are extremly smart but I do not think they are given enough credit. As a preschool teacher now, I do see how essential it is talking to them about what you are doing and giving them eye contact. I see a big difference, almost growing a connection.

I was one of those people that did not understand the purpose of a huge party for a 1 year old. The first section let us know although the infant may not remember the party they can remember the feeling of it. And the way adults/caregivers react to infants can affect their well-being. Specifically, if an infant is not met when he/she cries it can lead to keeping to themselves. I am in the process of healing from a traumatic event that happened in my childhood, and it gives me hope that I will continue to get better. While we weren't able to get through the whole semester, I really gained confidence in my ability to observe a child a develop curriculum! There has been many setbacks in my life, especially lately, that have affected my confidence. However, this class, my peers and Annie really have helped me tap into that confidence and epxress it!
