As a person who hasn't been quizzed over commas in years, I found myself trusting my gut with the answers to these questions. The best thing I learned about the use of commas is it helps with run-on sentences. With commas, you can keep your sentence going this helps a lot with grammar. I also have to thank Grammarly for the help ever since the installation it will correct you if you don't know where to place the comma in your sentence.

Origin Story 1. Why I enlisted in the Navy.

It was the fall of 2019 I was 26 years old and at the lowest point in my life, I saw peers on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter posting about their accomplishments and hating my life because I had nothing to show for it. I was working a dead-end job at my local mall where I ended up getting fired due to my car engine going out on me and having to walk through snow and terrible weather conditions just to get to work on time, unfortunately being late too many times, my manager let me know that they were getting rid of me. After getting fired and having to move back into my parent's place to get back on my feet I felt like there was nothing else I could do but get a job working at a warehouse working long hours and hard labor like I had seen my stepfather done for over 20 years. There's nothing wrong with that life but I knew it wasn't for me I wanted more and upon a visit to the local mall to see old friends I ran into a recruiter for the US Navy, my friend who worked there also informed me that he was getting a signing bonus and was getting ready to leave for boot camp and persuaded me to join. With nothing left for me in my small town besides a warehouse job, I set out to join the navy with hopes of finishing my contract and leaving this place and never coming back and experiencing and exploring the world while getting paid. My time in the military wasn't what I was promised or expected but I'm grateful that it was something I got to experience and the benefits it's giving me and most importantly getting me out of a terrible situation into a better and promising one now, looking back on my life choices I wonder if this was all part of my journey in life?

As I board my flight at 3 pm a sense of shock begins to overcome my body. Leaving home wasn't my fear but boarding a plane and being 30,000 feet in the air was my greatest fear. As I'm boarding, I see a mother gripping her infant child close as she moves through the crowd of people boarding as well, I start to feel a little at ease thinking to myself, "If she can take the risk with her and her child to get to their destination I can too." I rushed to my seat so that I could get there first to claim the window seat, To my surprise I was shocked to see a young lady already beat me to the seat and was staring out the window, As I went to take my seat, I questioned myself and wonder do you need to introduce yourself or say anything to this stranger for the next 5 hours? Will they even talk to me? We began to have small talk and somewhere down the line of the conversation I dosed off and went to sleep, I woke four hours later to the announcer saying that we had landed safely and to enjoy our trip in Mississippi. The young lady had let me rest on her shoulder the whole time and didn't wake me or move me once I often wonder to myself if I ever annoyed her or upset her by falling asleep on her throughout the flight. would I have let her sleep on my shoulder if the roles were reversed?

I never really had my dad for most of my life but I promise you I will always be here for yours. Being your father is my greatest accomplishment, being the man in your life to teach you things protect you, and love you is the best thing I could ever ask for. Watching you grow over the year has been a learning experience on its own and now the real fun begins. Your older know and already know how to walk and babble to me, You will start to form your sentences and ask me questions like, "What is this Daddy" and "Can I have this Dad"? I'll make sure I'm always ready to ask your questions I hope you are ready to answer some of my questions. I'm scared, nervous, happy, and excited about the future. I'm curious about the lady you will grow up to be, what sorts of things would you be interested in? Will you have your own family? Regardless I'm glad to be your father and ready for any challenges we face!

For my Ted talk, I chose to watch How Ocean Noise Destroys Marine Ecosystems by Steve Simpson. For me to activate my schema for this talk, I had to think about what I know about how sound can affect marine life. When I was little I remember banging on an aquarium glass and watching the fish react to my banging, A kind woman kindly asked me to stop at the sound the fish were reacting to and being scared away. After listening to the TED talk and hearing that fishes and other animals in the coral reef are being taken from their homes to a giant glass exposure and having kids banging on their homes can cause the fish stress that we could never imagine.

I Still learning about the concept of activating schema. Upon learning I see it can be a valuable tool having the ability to SWR up and expect work for the content you are about to consume can help you draw quicker connections to prior knowledge.

Steve Simpson: How ocean noise destroys marine ecosystems | TED Talk

Fatherhood is scary nowadays with so much uncertainty and our world are always changing for better or worse I contemplate with myself daily, I want you to be safe I want you to be better than me and your mother, and most importantly I want you to be happy with the life you have and we as parents gave to you.

The first resource I used was a YouTube video about becoming a father. One of my favorite podcasters Joe Rogan talks about how kids will forever change you, and a lot of what he says in the video I agree with. The one thing I always want to do is respect and love my child I would never want to leave her or treat her terribly. The second source was a movie that I enjoyed and recommended it's called Fatherhood with actor/comedian Kevin Hart, and it explores his trials and tribulations as a single father due to losing his wife to childbirth. it was something I related to as one of my greatest fears was the thought of losing my wife to childbirth and raising my kid without her. How he overcame the pain of losing the love of his life and counting on working hard be a provider and play both roles for his kid let me know that all I needed to do was show up, be there when she needed me, and always love her unconditionally and always to do my best and all for her.
First Source: Joe Rogan - Becoming a Parent Changes You - YouTube
Second Source: Fatherhood (2021) - IMDb

The YouTube video, How to Worship God in Spirit and Truth by Allen G. Parr Jr. shows how to worship God and how to deep dive to worship. His sermon is describing how to understand how to worship and never be ashamed of your worship and how to give tips on how to worship God cut out distractions in the world and allow yourself to give yourself to God. Acceptable worship is to tap into god's presence through worship.

Response to the Source:
Watching and listening to the video changed my perception of prayer and worship. I like to credit my wife and classmate Esther I struggled with a lot of guilt and lost my way too many times to count and almost forsaken god because a moment in my life I thought he took everything from me. Now as a father and husband and with the help of my wife, I begin to understand that God has blessed me more than I could ever imagine he has given me a loving and supporting family and the things I needed in life not wanted. I pray now and begin to worship him, and I even plan to get baptized with my family here soon.

Connection:
In the beginning, I wanted to research something that has been heavily on my mind and something very personal to me and my growth as a person, father, and husband.

The second resource I found was a website called, connectusfund.org which presented ways that one can learn how to truly worship God. There are so many ways one can worship so many people probably think the only way to worship god is by finding and going to a church every Sunday dressed up and listening to a preacher preach about the lord and reading the bible, but true worship comes in many forms and can be done anywhere and at any time. The website goes on to show the 25 different ways you can worship God.

Response:
This site gave me many different ways I can worship my lord and Savior and how I can integrate it into my life with my wife and kid. I used to just pray and give thanks to the lord every night before bed but now I have so many ways I can talk with God and give him the worship he deserves. I plan on starting to change my habits and make strides in my relationship with God and worship as well as fixing my mental and physical health. This site is a good way for a person who is interested in starting that relationship or even learning new ways to worship God and further strengthen a relationship with God.

Connections:
My first resource was a video describing an author's perspective on worship and ways one can worship God and how he worships a god. Sources like this helped me connect with God on a deeper level everyone's path is different in life some like the feeling of going to church while others like to worship with God one one-on-one and worship in private. Each source is very similar with the message being don't be afraid to worship and that there are multiple ways a person can worship.

Questions:
What type of worship would you participate in?
Post Stops #6 Research Journey Are Video Games Causing Violence?

The article "Violent video games and young people," by Harvard Health Publishing discusses the ongoing debate surrounding the impact of violent video games on young people. It starts by highlighting the violent content in popular video games among teenagers and young children and the concerns parents have regarding the children's exposure. Some experts including the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), argue that violent media and video games can lead to real-life violent behavior and negative effects. However, the article also presents a different view with some researchers challenging the idea that violent games are directly harmful. Two psychologists, Dr. Patrick Markey of Villanova University and Dr. Charlotte Markey of Rutgers University, have presented evidence that Dr. Patrick Markey of Villanova University and Dr. Charlotte Markey of Rutgers University." They point out that research on the subject often relies on measures of aggression that do not necessarily correlate with real-world violence and that causal links have not been proven. Federal crime statistics indicate a decrease in serious youth violence even as video game sales have increased. In summary, the article shows the ongoing debate on the impact of violent video games, on youth, showing both sides of the argument and suggesting steps parents can use to mitigate any potential negative effects on the child.

Response:

As someone who loves video games, I don't see any harmful effects on my mind or behavior. Even though I'm older now, when I was growing up, I knew the difference between what I can do in a game versus what I can do in real life. Video games are meant to be enjoyed, and they allow the player to enter a world of fantasy. However, it's important to remember that you're not supposed to replicate or copy what you experience in a video game in real life.

I've read articles about children or young adults acting violently due to losing a game or having the game taken away from them. I believe it's the responsibility of parents or guardians to set guidelines and rules for playing games, as well as instill good morals for life outside of gaming.

Studies have suggested that video games don't cause violent behavior. Doctors like Dr. Patrick Markey of Villanova University and Dr. Charlotte Markey of Rutgers University have supported this claim with this quote and that presented evidence that "some children may become more aggressive as a result of watching and playing violent video games, but that most are not affected."

As I reflect on my experiences as a parent and a gamer, I realize that video games can potentially have an impact not only on children but also on adults. As a father and husband, I enjoy playing video games in my free time, and I often wonder how my daughter perceives what I am playing and if it affects her learning. For example, if I play a fighting game and she sees two characters hitting each other, will she think it is acceptable to behave that way in real life?

This also relates to my research, as the focus is typically on the effects of video games on children's minds, but what about adults? We know right from wrong and the laws of our country and states, but how does playing online games with others in a competitive setting affect our behavior? When we lose, do we become violent or aggressive? Personally, I do not, but I do sometimes find myself more focused on my gaming than my child, which is something I want to change.

Questions:

Do you think video games cause violence among young people and children? Do you think violent video games should be banned or tighter restrictions on playing? Are games like Fortnite considered violent?

Sources:

Harvard Health Publishing "Violent Video Games and Young People," October 1, 2010, https://www.health.harvard.edu/newsletter_article/violent-video-games-and-young-people.

So far one word that describes my thoughts on this course is different. This course has been interesting I never thought for a second that taking an English course would be something like this. From all of the applications I have to download and install, I thought to myself if this would be something that I would even use or if it was worth it, so far Grammarly has been the most useful out of the bunch as will be something I will continue to use. I say different because it's something you wouldn't see many professors do with Padlet being the main source for sending and reviewing your work but it's something that I came to somewhat enjoy. The due dates and information are so helpful especially if you came into the class thinking you're just going to buy a book read chapters and write. Thankful to Mrs.lew for her effort and time to teach even if it's virtually she goes into detail and gives reminders to let students know what is due and when and how to get assignments done.

I hope to keep; earning more taking the things I learned and becoming a polished writer. I have taken courses before and this has been an experience.

For this assignment i have decided to talk with my mother about parenthood and the questions i asked her where about Rasing children and the sacrifices we have to sometimes make as a parent. i think my mother made the ultimate sacrifice by having me at 15 years old a child in high school having a child and the trials and tribulations she had while raising me and some of the things she learned about along the way that she can pass on to me with my current child. The first question i asked her was "what was the first thing you thought about when you found out you were having a child? She responded anxious and nervous, she was overwhelmed with emotions because she knew finically, we didn't have a lot and she would have to pick up a fulltime job to support and raise me all while going to high school. She was pressured from friends and some family to have an abortion due to her being so young and full of life ahead that this would ruin her lifer and plans. The second question i asked her was Rasing a kid what the hardest age was and what did you learn from me that helped you applied it to my brother and sister after me. She responded with 15-18 and you have to learn patience and give you time we all know and hear about that rebellion stage in a child life and i gave my mother hell but she was patience with me and knew that in time i will come around and learn from my mistakes and know that i always would have support from her and family and that no matter what i said or did i was always loved. I do plan on doing more interviews with family and friends with children to get a better understanding of what is to be a parent and learn.

Works Cited:
Palmer, Latanya. I found myself liking different things and wanting to explore my curiosity in various subjects from things in my personal life as a father and ex-military to the passion of gaming and a sleep disorder that troubles me. After help from Mrs. Lew and thinking about its been infront of me the whole time and thats being a parent i cant believe it took me this whole time to decied. my child my first born the one person who i stay curious about, asking myself everyday the things she says to me (even though its babbling) i ask myself "What are you trying to tell me". I still have questions throught this journey that i need to answer and find out and there as somethings that i need and want to learn so i can be the best parent for my kid i can be. If i haf to put my idea into words i would say "I want to get other when they become parents to have the questions i had answered and to elivate stress. I know its easier said then done but when you have a first child your mind is all over the place with so many questions and concers not only for the baby but the partents themselves. Lastly if someone was to ask "So what did you learn about research in college?" i would respond with you never really research a topic until you discover a passion for it something that will keep you up at night, something that through out your day you will find yourself thinking and asking questions about it constantly.

The CRAAP test is a handy acronym used to evaluate the quality and reliability of information sources, particularly in the context of research and information literacy. It helps you assess whether a source is credible and suitable for your needs. The acronym stands for:

Currency: This aspect assesses the timeliness of the information. Consider when the source was published or last updated. In some cases, recent information is crucial, while in others, older information may still be relevant. Ensure the publication date aligns with your research needs.

Relevance: Evaluate the source's relevance to your research topic. Does it provide information that directly addresses your research question or needs? A source should be pertinent to your specific purpose.

Authority: Check the qualifications and expertise of the author or organization responsible for the information. Consider their credentials, experience, and whether they are recognized authorities in the field. Reliable sources are often created by experts.

Accuracy: Examine the accuracy and reliability of the information. Look for evidence of well-researched content, citations of sources, and peer-reviewed articles. Be cautious of sources with significant factual errors or unsupported claims.

Purpose: Understand the purpose of the source. Is it objective and impartial, or does it have a clear bias or agenda? Consider whether the source is intended to inform, persuade, entertain, or sell a product or viewpoint.

By applying the CRAAP test, you can make informed decisions about which sources to trust and use in your research or information-gathering endeavors.

Joshua Bell is a renowned American violinist. He is considered one of the finest classical violinists in the world. Bell has an extensive discography and has performed with major orchestras and at prestigious venues globally. The Main differnce between the two scenarios is location. Aristole 2,300 years ago wrote "Rhetoric." In this work, Aristotle explores the art of persuasive communication and discusses various rhetorical strategies, including the concepts of ethos, pathos, and logos. Logos is the use of logical reasoning, evidence, and sound argumentation to persuade an audience. Ethos is the appeal to the credibility, ethics, and authority of the speaker or author. Pathos is the appeal to the audience's emotions, values, and feelings. In the case of Joshua Bell's second performance in the subway station, what was missing was the context and awareness of his identity as a world-famous virtuoso violinist. The second performance lacked the "ethos" component, which is the credibility or authority associated with the speaker. The audience did not recognize him or his expertise, and this impacted their perception of the music. To incorporate credibility and emotional connection with your idea: Establish your expertise (ethos): Share your qualifications, experience, or research that makes you a credible source of information or authority on the subject. Provide evidence and logical arguments (logos): Support your idea with data, facts, and logical reasoning. This strengthens the foundation of your argument. Appeal to emotions (pathos): Use storytelling, vivid language, and emotional examples to connect with your audience on a personal level.
