The proverb no matter how many times you wash a goat, it will still smell like a goat means you can't change something no matter how many times you try or how hard you try. In the proverb, the goat symbolizes you, an other person, or thing and the washing represents the change someone is forcing upon you. This proverb is used to tell people not let people control how you act, what you do, or what you look like. You could substitute anything in for the word goat and the proverb would basically hold the same value. Over the history of the world many people have tried to fight the white-washing of society. In communism where basically everyone is force to be the same it never truly works which show you can never fully get rid on someones personality or beliefs.
