The Estates General is a general assembly of the French estates. It was summoned to address the looming financial crisis in France. The voting was not even due to the Dukes and king to vote for keeping their power and never siding with the lowest estate. This event saw an early resentment towards the French Government.

This event marked the start of the revolution. It was a major event because they had swore to make sure that the voice of the people was heard.

The Storming of Bastille marked the first true conflict of the Revolution. Bastille is a fortress and prison that held many major weapons, and prisoners who had rebelled against the throne. This came from the oppressive rule of the French Regime. It was also a major success for the revolution. They had gained weapons and men all of which supported their revolution.

King Louis XVI and Queen Antoinette tried to escape Paris. They wanted to escape Paris because of the threat of the revolution. The attempt tried to make it look as if they were kidnapped. This failed, and the people knew they were fleeing the city. After this fail he lost all of his support from the people of France. He was made a traitor in the eye's of the French people.

Napoleon invaded Egypt with the hopes of establishing a colony in Egypt, and to threaten British control. Great Britain at the time was running most of its trade with India through Egypt. Napoleon's move on Egypt threatened their control on trade in Egypt. Early victories however did not lead to success in Egypt. The campaign ended in a failure for Napoleon.

Bringing Venetia into the Italian part of France, also temporarily ended any anti-French alliances.
