Whiteboard. 2 students write on the board. Students brainstorm. Take a photo to keep what they said.

Yr 7 & Yr 8: use the knowledge from the last unit test.

Students brainstorm what exactly they will learn in the topic. Gain an understanding of where they think the topic will go, what they know.

Pre-testing at our table varies according to the level. If you pre-test at Year 7 level, it may be only superficial information required... Who has studied a language in the past? If so what languages? And how long? These questions my form the basis of a simple questionnaire style of Pre-test.
