You don't have to be depressed in order to benefit from exercise. Exercise helps you to relax, increase your brain power and even improve your body image. It doesn't matter if you don't lose weight from it, because the main point of exercise in this case is to distract yourself from all the worries you currently have as if it's acting like some sort of temporary reset button for life. I can relate to this simply because I used to jog around my village whenever I feel sad or have something to ruminate about alongside my music. For me this was quite effective because I've probably done this a dozen times and some of my best decisions were the product of Exercise.

There is nothing better than a good nights rest after a long days work. If it so happens that you lack sleep, it is possible that you are prone to acting upon others negatively and that is something you don't want to do unless it's on purpose. Sleeping more could help you think positively and increase productivity of your brain. This is something I've lacked for a long time due to occurrences in my day to day activities that I'd rather not discuss. But the point is, sleeping right may prove to be an effective method in maintaining your happiness.

It is said that most of the time people find happiness when they help others in need. The thought of being the cause of someones happiness would greatly benefit a persons attitude or mood because it would feel refreshing to see that we could do right by others. To relate to this, There have been a lot of people I know who approached me who require help or sometimes If I notice that someone is having problems then I might try to help them if I can. And if the person still remains the same no matter the efforts given, it would be okay to leave them be to figure things out for themselves. However, If it is a serious situation, It is best that you don't give up on the potential for that person to be better otherwise you'd regret being there when they needed you the most.

Not all things in your life can't be really that bad now can it? Sometimes you just have to remember all the good things in order to be happy. It doesn't matter how small or big the impact the good thing is, what matters is that it reminds you that the little things in your life if you choose to allow it is enough to know that there are things of value in your life that's keeping you from falling off the edge we call "Depression". Somewhat this relates to me but it's kind of too late for me to recall every good little thing that has happened to me because I have better things to do than sulk about my problems. And besides If I were to recall those memories again, I wouldn't benefit from it at all because it's not that simple to make me truly happy

5. Practice Smiling

Maybe you're just not very fond of the exercise of smiling for real and that's what makes you look gloomy. There are a lot of occurrence where you see people act like they're happy with their fake smiles in front of others. Trust me when I say that there is a difference between fake smiles and real smiles. The one thing fake smiles don't have, that real smiles have is the positive energy that it emits around those affected by it. Smiling can help reduce the stress you are in even if you are forced to do. I know I'm not fond of smiling but honestly I don't always need to do so. I can always smile when the opportunity presents it but for now all I need are the smiles of the people I care about before anything else.

6. Meditate

Before anything else, you should try to at least calm yourself regarding the situation you are in, this way you'll be able to think effective methods to deal with the situation you are in for you to be able to focus on the tasks at hand if there are any. Meditating during a time of pressure could reduce its harmful effects on you whilst keeping your happiness intact. Sometimes you just need to take a breather before you stress yourself out over something, If you were to attempt to solve all of your problems with one swoop it would cause you to be consumed by its harmful effects on you therefore leading you to a stressed state of mind. Take things slow and steady and you'll do fine.

7. Listen to Music

When times are rough, you can always fall back to the world of music where you can lose yourself in the meanings behind the lyrics. This would remind you that you are never truly alone no matter what your perspective about your life is. The idea that music can help alleviate pain is not surprising, since the right music can "soothe the soul". When we feel bad about something, normally we would look for experiences and/or distracting activities to alleviate our negative feelings. However, if we listen to music, it would seem that we don't need to find something to contradict our negative feelings, all we had to do was match the music with our current emotions. For a more personal experience, I am fond of listening to music to the point where I can listen to music all day without saying a word. I always listen to songs that talk about life simply because it gets me in a good mood, helps me think and a lot easier than social interaction.

8. Forgive

Have you ever heard of the quote “The first to apologize is the bravest. The first to forgive is the strongest. And the first to forget is the happiest.” ? Sometimes, the cause of your sadness are just your pent-up feelings about someone or something. To the point that it's just chipping away your capability of being happy therefore leading you to being stressed and depressed about it depending on how intense the feeling is. This feeling of resent, anger and bitterness will make you a more hostile and hateful person than your usual self, with the possibility that you may hurt people around you especially to those you care about who got caught in the crossfire. in my experience, I've never been the kind of guy who would hold bitterness towards something or someone unless it was a major thing. I'm a forgetful person so I wouldn't really find any reason to continue hating something. A lot of people have done wrong by me so i'm used to that kind of feeling but what really is the point of hating something? Is it simply because you want to know who is right? If that something would contribute to a destructive environment, then I suggest settling disputes the more civilized way which is to talk things out until a mutual understanding appears. To forgive something or someone will set you free from the burden of hate.
