Global Issue: Abuse with how the Reeds treat Jane and John threw a book at her that caused her head to bleed

Areas Of Exploration: Time and space was passed during the holidays, it shows how much time passed that Jane has been with them for.

IB concept: Representation is shown on page 9, "my heart was insurrection". This represents how she feels. Literary Element: On page 5, simile is seen when she compares the way she is sitting "Like a Turk".

Global issue: On page 7, John Reed abusing and hurt Jane til she bled, this is abuse.

IB concept: Culture and Identity, we see a lot of Christianity references from Jane and Mrs. Reed.

Gothic novel elements of atmosphere and damsel-in-distress. They're yelling at each other, John is threatening her, and she's getting beat.

IB concept: On page 5 there is identity shown when Jane asks questions, it shows how she has a curious personality. That contributes to her character for the reader to better understand her.

Literary element: Imagery is shown on page 5 when they describe parts of their home.

Global Issues: Physical/mental abuse and depression/misery evident in Jane being beaten and bullied by her cousin, John Reed.

Gothic Elements: Supernatural and death with the effect the "red room" has on Jane's mind because it was where her uncle passed.

Gothic Element: Jane cry's out in intense rage when called A deceitful person.

Area of Exploration: Intertextuality between Wuthering Heights is shown on page 7 with how both Jane and Heathcliff are abused.

Global issue: Physical Abuse- Jane Eyre is abused by John Reed by hitting her, as well as making Jane Eyre feel useless and powerless showing also Mental Abuse on Jane Eyre.

IB - concepts: identity on page 14 where she is asked questions and she replies telling him who she is along with perspective on page 9.

literary elements: imagery, by reading on page 8 where you can picture the abuse she has to endure a long with metaphors found in page 9 where she says "my brain is a tumult" referring to how her mental state is degrading

Gothic elements : damsel is distress on page 16 as shes yelling along with atmosphere on page 9

area of exploration : time and space on page 5 showing it was morning in the kitchen in a cold winter with rain.

Global issue: page 6 , degradation/abuse, Jane was degraded through words on this page through many different manners like calling her "animal" and abuse due to them saying that she had nothing due to her father leaving her nothing.

As Jane is self conscious of herself compared to the Reed children, she narrates of how their mother finds her strange, and penalizing her from "privileges intended only for contented, happy little children." This directly shows inequality and a manner of dehumanization.
