This is the song that I always turn to remind me that I am okay whenever I have a bad day. It really lifts my spirits and makes me feel stronger. This song always cheers me up. No other song really gives me true motivation like this one.

I grew up following Jóhanns work and I often credit his work for being an inspiration.

Jóhann Jóhannson passed away a couple weeks ago after a sudden heart attack. He was 48.

I chose this song and this particular image because I can vividly remember watching it. It was 2010 and Kanye was due to release a new song at the VMA’s. To start, Kanye is alone. He approaches a lone MPC machine and begins to play the song from scratch. It was not long until I was entranced by Kanye and his MPC, but what have stuck out to this day are the lyrics. I know every word and I think every bar (especially in the chorus) is incredible.

I chose this song because the lyrics and the way the song sounds is very powerful. My favorite part of the song is the first few lines. Eminem sings, “if you had one shot to seize everything you ever wanted, would you capture it or let it slip”. This question is very powerful and makes me really wonder. I think everyone would want to “seize” the moment but would also be in fear of “seizing the moment” because they would be entering a new and unknown way of living. The picture on the left is someone in fear and the one on the right is someone taking a risk in hope for a better life/opportunity.
