the language must be English: so in 1977 the Standard Marine Navigation Vocabulary was adopted (SMNV), then amended in 1985.

In 1997, the IMO Maritime Safety Committee adopted the project Marine Standard Communications (SMCP) developed by the IMO Subcommittee on Navigation Security. 

When it is necessary to indicate that the SMCP are to be used, the following message may be sent:

"Please use Standard Marine Communication Phrases." OR "I will use Standard Marine Communication Phrases."
