Define and evaluate the concept of a single note (Ratliff, Ch. 6) as an important musical element across all kinds of music. kinds of musics

So the concept of a single is taking a pedal point that lies beneath a piece of music but putting on the top instead. With playing a single note, anytime it is played, it is very unique or different due to the fact that no one else will play that single the same.

Do you agree with Ratliff’s arguments regarding this musical element? Why or why not?

Yes, because I personally think that it will be difficult to perform an exact note that someone else makes because of the fact people hear music differently. I have notice that when listening to when performers cover a piece that was by a complete different band, it is clear that neither pieces are exactly the same but sound similar.

Examine at least one musical example in Ratliff’s playlist in detail – how does it exemplify this musical concept?

-Neil Young solo in "Cinnamon Girl"
I watched a YouTube tutorial of someone who was showing how to play it on a guitar and I could instantly tell during the tutorial, he had a higher pitch to it which proves Ratliff's point in saying that no single note can be played the same.

Find at least one musical example outside of Ratliff’s playlist and justify its inclusion – how does it exemplify this musical concept?

For example, DJ Khaled, Rihanna, and Bryson Tiller released one of the best songs of 2017 which is 'Wild Thoughts". Kelley Jones performed a cover of "Wild Thoughts" and for the most of the she was on her guitar and she would do a single note, it would not sound similar to the original piece which yet again proves Ratliff's point.
