How successful do you feel your rehearsal process was?

I think my rehearsal process was quite successful, even though my group wasted a lot of time practicing because we could not agree on which scene to do. I had to write the script, which was pretty tiring, but I enjoyed the process because adding epic theatre techniques to the play that I wrote myself was very fun and interesting. In my opinion, my group did very well because we understood our characters and the dynamics between them, which paid off in creating a cohesive performance.

How did your final performance go?

The final performance went better than expected. I even added some improvisation when I did my last monologue. However, I still made one mistake, which was when I pronounced a word wrong in my line (I got pretty embarrassed), but I still got through it and finished my performance. Despite some initial nerves, once I got into the rhythm, everything fell into place.

Do you feel you were successful in communicating your message to the audience? 

I believe I was successful in communicating my message. After every episode, our group said our message, and we even had a huge placard saying "We may be young, but we have problems too" on it, so I think it is clear. Unless you have eye problems or are deaf, I don't think people would have any trouble understanding our message through the play.

What would you do differently if you were to perform again? 

If I were to perform again, I would use more gestus because I thought that my gestures weren't exaggerated enough. I would also practice my lines more, just to avoid mispronunciation and forgetting lines.

Looking at your journey over the last few weeks, how do you feel you have developed as artists?

Over the last few weeks, I feel I have grown significantly as an artist. I have never learned drama before, and I lack acting skills because I was always shy. After learning with Ms. Leat, I learned a lot more about theatre, which made me more confident and open to taking creative risks.

How has Brecht's work influenced the way you create theatre?

Brecht's theatre has profoundly influenced the way I create theatre. His concepts of the alienation effect encouraged me to present my performance using skills like direct address, narration, placards, etc. to make the audience critically engaged and understand the play better.
