Tusk the Mighty Mammoth rules the rotting forests of Gorgonia. She terrorises the rebels at war with evil wizard Malvel and holds a good Beast captive. All the good Beasts are imprisoned and Tom must save them. 

Tusk was Malvel's trusted servant and it was her job to take out the Gorgornian rebels in the dense forest of the dark realm. 310 years old at the time of her death Tusk has clearly had many years of valuable fighting experience. But she was defeated when Tom, Elenna, Ferno and a group of rebels confronted her in what would be her last battle. She was tied down by the rebels and then Tom showed her no mercy in cutting her down and now her only legacy is her amber jewel which aids the boy who killed her by giving him better fighting abilities. Tusk exploded after her horns were cut off by Tom Swiftston.

 

 

In this book Tom faces the most battle tested beast so far, the mighty Tusk, along with his own nemesis. With his support team already cut down Tom will need to rely on all his acquired powers, skills, and allies to defeat this tough juggernaut of a beast.

I like Tom team building skill and his bravery to always fight with his best effort.

 

 

 

This book is recommending to children between 7 to 12 years old. We can learn about team work which bring together everyone achieve more.

Amictus the Bug Queen is the last beast Tom and Elenna face in the Shade of Death, she is found in the Rainbow Jungle.

Amictus is a giant insect with four tall, powerful legs, two giant, transparent wings and two huge, powerful, crunching claws.

Amictus has a variety of attacks and abilities that she will use to outwit her opponent, she can camouflage herself then sneak up on her enemy, she can attack using her claws or she can attack her opponent head on. Her babies are very protective of her and will attack if anyone tries to harm Amictus.

Tom and Elenna first meet Amictus in the Rainbow Jungle where their battle takes place, Tom pulls out the Telescope he found in an old shipwreck and begins scanning the area for Amictus. Soon they find the camouflaged Amictus and so begins the battle. Amictus begins by attacking Tom and Elenna with her claws, they dodge and Tom pulls out his sword and shield and then fights back while Elenna shoot arrows at her, eventually Amictus's babies join in the battle by attacking Tom and Elenna who retreat to a nearby bush, Tom figures out how to beat Amictus and her babies and then turns to Elenna and tells her his plan. Tom exits the bush and runs at Amictus while Elenna distracts the babies, Tom sees that one of Amictus's claws is glowing green indicating that the claw is the source of Amictus's curse. He runs up to the claw dodging the attacks that Amictus throws at him and jabs his sword into the claw and hacks it open releasing green liquid and freeing Amictus.

 

Tom's quest to free the Mistress of the Beasts brings him to a sweltering jungle. There he must defeat cunning Amictus.

I love reading this book and my favorite characters in this book are Tom and Elenna. Their team work can conquer Amictus.. 

 

 

This book is recommending to children between 7 to 12 years old. The story is amazing we can learn how to work in team to defeat our enemies.

Hawkite the Sky Lord is the second beast Tom and Elenna face in the Shade of Death. He is found near the farmlands.

Hawkite is a giant bird beast coated with red feathers, she has two large, powerful wings, a huge head with a snaping beak and two tall, stalking legs with menacing talons on the end.

Hawkite can fly and when he flaps his wings he sends a gush of wind that rips up anything in the way. He can also charge at people using his beak.

Tom and Elenna first meet Hawkite in the Farmland where their battle takes place, After aquiring the magic ring Tom goes in search of Hawkite and eventually finds her starting the battle. Hawkite begins by throwing attacks at Tom and Elenna who pull out their weapons and fight back. After studying Hawkite for weaknesses Tom spots green feathers on Hawkite's wing so forms a plan. While Elenna distracts hawkite Tom runs up to her and rips out the green feathers thanks to the help of the ring.

 

Fearsome Hawkite has destroyed the crops of Gwildor and the people are starving. Tom must stop their suffering and free the Mistress of the Beasts. 

I like Tom character it teaches me about persistence. No matter how hard it is he convinces the hostile villagers he is there to help and will fight with his best.

 

 

This book is recommending to children between 7 to 12 years old. The story is about fantasy and magic. Tom and Elena show us how to do teamwork in order to defeat enemy.

Epos the Flame bird is the last beast Tom and Elenna face in Beast Quest, she is found in Stonwin Volcano.

Epos is a bird beast with redish gold feathers and sharp talons.

Epos is heat resistant, has the ability to reawaken volcanos and can blast fire balls at her opponent.

Tom and Elenna first meet Epos in Stonewin volcano where their battle takes place, Epos is reawakening Stonewin Volcano and Malvel the dark wizard is there to watch. Tom gets into the volcano and duels with Epos and Marvel, the source of Epos's curse is the golden bracelet around her leg, Tom eventually figurres this out and frees Epos. She then duels Marvel and sends him plunging into the volcano saving Stonewin.

 

An action story with a lot of suspense and action traveling across a magical land called Avantia. A boy called Tom travels with his friend Elenna to free beasts an enchantment by an evil wizard by defeating them and taking something from it to help him free the last beast Epos the most powerful of them and try to stop a volcano from erupting and destroying Avantia.

In the story a boy named Tom went on an amazing quest to free a flame bird from an evil wizard's curse to be evil. His companions are a girl named Elenna , a horse named Storm and a wolf named Silver. The team had to venture inside the bird's volcano to free it from the spell.

 

 

 

This book is really good and I would recommend it to every child in the world. Tom once again show his courage and determination over insurmountable odds.

Ferno the Fire Dragon brings the colour red into all parts of Avantia. He's the one who makes sure fruits and vegetables grow juicy and ripe. Beautiful red flowers appear on the ground wherever Sulphur fire comes out of his mouth.

Red is the color of passion, courage, and energy. It follows that Ferno is feisty and exuberant, and he shares Tom's speed demon tendency.

Ferno tends to overdo things. It is also possible that he is the oldest out of the Good Beasts, as he tends to care for the other Beasts, and is willing to protect them no matter what.

Ferno has slightly-tanned, grey scales. His tail is long and strawberry-blonde in colour, threaded with red roses and green leaves. Ferno's eyes are round in shape and are tinted golden, with red edging.

In the pot at the end of the forest, Tom and Elenna come across Ferno the Fire Dragon. Finally, they can keep him good and free the rest of the Good Beasts.

 

Tom is a wonderful character. He is a young boy whose father was Taladon the Swift, one of the Knights of Avantia. Sent on a quest to free the fire dragon, Ferno, from the curse of Malvel, a dark wizard, he finds himself facing dangers and making new friends.

 

I initially bought this book to help a couple of reluctant readers I am mentoring get into reading. I decided I would read it myself to see what it's like. The larger font used in the book is easy on the eyes and makes it easier for children to focus onto.

 

This is a really enjoyable story. I was quickly caught up in the tale. I liked meeting King Hugo and the wizard, Aduro. They are determined to break Malvel's hold over the dragons of Avantia. I also liked meeting Elenna, a young girl that befriends Tom, and her pet wolf called Silver. The story takes the reader through an exciting adventure, and a quest that makes them develop an emotional bond with the characters. The danger Tom and Elenna faces had me sitting on the edge of my seat. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed by the ending. As the story reached its climax the intensity fizzled for me somewhat, even though it ended happily; this could be because I am not the intended age range. Nevertheless, I think that this is an intriguing series for the younger reader. Hopefully, this story will capture my charges imaginations as much as it caught mine.

 

 

I enjoyed the well plotted story. Our heroes are a boy and a girl. They have to face fantastical beasts in order to save the kingdom. The two along with their animal companions show great team work and fast thinking. There are realistic aspects depicted in the way young Tom feels and goes about problem solving. This book recommends to any children in the world.

Nanook the Snow Monster is the fifth Beast faced by Tom and Elenna in Beast Quest. She is found in the Icy Plains, in the North of Avantia

Nanook has a large humanoid body covered with fur, strong, limbs and a fearsome face.

Nanook has various attacks and abilities that she uses to crush her enemy: She can attack head on, sneak attack her enemy and use her enhanced strength. Also, her thick fur protects her from the cold.

Tom and Elenna first met Nanook in the Icy Plains, where their battle takes place. Nanook begins the battle by throwing snow at Tom and Elenna who pull out their weapons and fight back. After finding Nanook's weakness, the bell around her neck, they form a plan. Setting it in motion, Elenna distracts Nanook while Tom jumps on her back and cuts of the Enchanted Bell, the source of Nanook's evil. Afterward Nanook says goodbye and Tom places Nanook's bell into his shield. Now, thanks to it, he never feels cold...

Her Age is 335 years old. Her Power is 165. Her Magic Level is 131. Her Fright Factor is 73.

 

Tom and his friends return to the mountains of Aventia to face their second snow beast. Nanook is no longer protecting the settlers in the mountains from the Snow Panthers and other predators of the mountains. Finally, Tom and his friends can survive the harsh environment to even get to Nanook. 
Tom our young hero once again show his courage and determination. I like way the stories promote team work, Tom always gives full credit to his friends by telling the readers he could not have reached this far without the help of his friends.

 

 

I liked this story because is showed Tom's determination, and he had to make some hard choices in this story as well. He has all the personal qualities to make him a great young hero. Grit, determination, loyalty, courage, a child's innate ability to do the right thing and inspire others to do the same. This book most suited to boys aged 7-12 depending on reading ability.

Tom, a young blacksmith's apprentice, is on a heroic quest to save the kingdom of Avantia from the terrors of six beasts. The beasts, which used to protect Avantia, have been placed under the magic of the evil sorcerer Malvel. Armed with tools from the kingdom's wizard, Aduro, Tom and his friend Elenna have already set Ferno the Fire Dragon free from Malvel's spell. Now Aduro's magical map informs the pair that their next quest is to free Sepron, a sea serpent that has been causing floods along Avantia's coast.

 

Before Tom and Elenna can reach the ocean, Sepron causes a tidal wave to wipe out their path. The two manage to find the remains of a fishing village struggling to survive. The serpent has destroyed all but one of their boats. Tom and Elenna offer to help the villagers repair that boat so they might be able to catch some fish.

 

When the tar they're using spills into a fire, Tom uses his magic shield to protect him as he and Calum, a boy from the village, pour water on the flames. Tom's shield is unharmed by the blaze, but Calum's hand is burned. Tom and Elenna ask for permission to borrow the boat once it's repaired, but the villagers refuse. It is their only hope for survival, and they can't risk the young people losing it to Sepron.

 

The following morning, Tom and Elenna plan to take the boat out before any of the villagers wake up. Calum stops them, but they convince him they aren't stealing it. Tom is intrigued when Calum says Tom reminds him of someone who passed through their village years ago on a quest. Tom wonders if the man could have been his father, Taladon, who disappeared long ago. Calum didn't know the man's name, but he agrees to let Tom and Elena take the boat. Calum will watch Silver, Elenna's tamed wolf, and Storm, Tom's horse, while they are gone. He also lends them his knife.

 

Tom and Elenna row the boat into the ocean. The repairs to the boat are not strong, and they start taking on water. Elenna dives under the boat and stuffs the hole with a piece of Tom's shirt to slow the leak. When Sepron nears, Tom realizes he must swim closer to the sea serpent if he's to unlock the magical chain that keeps the beast bound to Malvel. Barnacles encrust the lock, so Tom uses Calum's knife to scrape them free. Sepron battles ferociously, but Tom manages to slip the key into the lock and release Sepron from Malvel's spell. Sepron carries the drowning Tom back to Elenna and she hauls the boy onto the boat. The serpent drops a tooth into the boat before he slips back into the ocean.

 

Once recovered, Tom places the tooth on his magic shield. The wood absorbs it. Aduro appears and explains to Tom that the tooth will protect him from the fiercest torment. The wizard tells the children they must head to the northern mountains, as Malvel has placed a spell on Cypher, the giant. He is sending avalanches down the mountains to block the kingdom's trade routes.

 

Tom and Elenna agree to take on this next quest, but first they head back to the village to return the boat and retrieve Silver and Storm. Tom offers to give back Calum's knife, but the boy tells Tom to keep it as a reward. Tom and Elenna head off on their next quest, knowing it will be easier to face it together.

 

This is a great ending to Tom and Elanna latest adventure.

Tom is really stepping into becoming a great hero and role model. I like that is this quest he was losing his powers rather that gaining them so he had to rely more on his natural courage and the skills he learned rather than magic powers.

Striped of his powers Tom and Elanna must face the most dangerous beast so far. However, Tom has not just list his powers, he has now also lost some of his allies. Something I am happy about is Elanna gets a chance to shine as well, and Tom tries to give her equal credit. This is a good ending and stepping out of his father’s shadow for Tom, in essence this is the quest his father never managed to complete.

 

 

I recommend to any child in the world to read this book. This book teaches us Tom is a great hero a youngster fighting magical beasts he has all the right ingredients, intelligence, courage and determination.

Arcta the Mountain Giant is the third beast Tom and Elenna face in Beast Quest, he is found in the Northern Mountains of Avantia.

Arcta has a large, bulky body which was covered in fur, two muscley arms and legs and a large, round head with a monsterous face on it and one single eye in the middle of his forehead.

Arcta has enhanced strength which he uses to protect the Northern Mountains by pushing large rocks away to prevent landslides.

Tom and Elenna first meet Arcta in the Place of the Eagles where their battle takes place. Tom sneaks up on Arcta and tries to undo the blindfold but alerts Arcta in the process, Arcta struggles to shake Tom off but falls over the edge of the mountain pludging into the abyss. Luckily Arcta grabs hold of the mountain lower down and Tom scrambles up to the enchanted knot and undoes it sending the blindfold plunging down into the abyss. Arcta climbs back up onto the mountain and helps Tom up, He then waves goodbye and walks back up into the mountain Tom then receives the Eagle Feather that can help him.

 

In this book Tom and his friends have already freed 2 of the cursed beasts. Receiving magical items, enhancing his shield, from the grateful creatures. A dragon scale which repels fire, and a sea serpent's tooth that repels running water (I am not quite sure what that means). Now he must free Arcta, the mountain giant; who is causing landslides burying or cutting off supplies to the towns around the mountains. I liked this story because is showed Tom's determination, and he had to make some hard choices in this story as well. He has all the personal qualities to make him a great young hero. Grit, determination, loyalty, courage, a child's innate ability to do the right thing and inspire others to do the same. Great book great series.

 

 

I recommend to any child in the world to read this book. Although perhaps rather predictable, in that we all know that the good guy will triumph in the end, it's a good series to encourage reluctant/struggling boy readers who like the fantasy genre.

Tagus the Horse Man is the fourth beast Tom and Elenna must face in the beast quest series.

Tagus has the body of a large, brown horse and the rest of his body is human.

Tagus has the ability to run extremely fast thanks to his horse legs, He also has a sword which he will use at will. Normal man can't lift his sword.

When Tom and Elenna first met Tagus it was in the middle of the night when Tagus had tried to kill the cattle, the source of Tagus's curse was a golden horseshoe which was on one of his horse legs. After getting it off it shattered leaving fragments on the ground, Tagus gave a Horseshoe Fragment Tom which gave him the gift of incredible speed. He shared one common similarities with Trema the Earth Lord,the fact that they both live in plains. Another fact is that they represent Avantia twining Gwildor. Tagus appears in Koron Jaws of Death he helped Tom to fight with Sanpao and Koron Jaws of Death.

Tagus was 406 years old, he was born 406 years ago, which makes him the second oldest beast of Avantia. Once upon a time, Tagus’s human half looked just like a normal man. But as time passed he started to look more Beastly. Tagus got his sword from the hunter that heard about the Horse Man and went out to hunt it, Tagus kept a sword as a trophy.

 

After the freeing Arcta, Tom and Ellana travel to the country side. Here their mission is to free Tagus the Horseman (a Centaur) who is attacking the surrounding cattle he once protected. During ove of these attacks a local boy is causes a bush fire and a local boy is missing. Tom is wrongfully blamed. Cut off from his friends and magical items Tom can escape, clear his name and still free the beast.

Tom courage and determination is a role model for me to always persist even against the odds.

 

I recommend to any child around 7-12 years old to read this book. The stories capture the ideas of children about what it would be like to have adventures in a world of magic and amazing beasts. The characters are easily accessible to this age group, and the stories are not too complex.

The golden armor has disappeared.  Tom and Elenna must battle the new beasts created by Malvel to get each piece of armor back.  They first battle Zepha the monster squid.  They retrieve the helmet with Sepron's help.  They then learn that Malvel has kidnapped Aduro.  They must find the other five pieces of armor to free their wizard friend.

Zepha the Monster Squid is the first beast Tom and Elenna faced in the golden armour, He is found in the western ocean.

Zepha has eight, large, green, powerful tentacles at the bottem of his body, He has a huge, green head and two big, yellow eyes.

Zepha has the ability to create whirlpools and has incredible strength, because he's a squid Zepha can squirt ink at his opponent to blind he/her.

When Tom and Elenna first meet Zepha they had dived into the whirlpool he had made and thus starting the battle between them, Soon Tom called Sepron to help them defeat Zepha and he, Tom and Elenna had managed to defeat Zepha the Monster Squid. But when Zelpha dies, he explodes into hundreds of little squid. After the battle Tom acquired the beasts prize, the Golden Helmet.

 

A good book. Since the last series the wizard Malvel is believed dead. For his great deeds and courage Tom is about to be honored by reviving the Golden Amour, which is destined to belong the master of the beasts. The Amour is stolen and scattered around Aventia, guarded by 6 beasts. Here is the twist these are not good beast forced to be evil by dark magic, these are evil beasts created by dark magic.

Persistence pay off that teach us to always give our best. Courage and determination we can learn a lot from Tom.

 

 

I recommend to any child around 7-12 years old to read this book. This wonderful adventure is listened with bated breath. I highly recommend the boys hungry heroic adventures.
