Weather is wreaking havoc - climate related disasters have tripled since 1980<br>6.Species are being disrupted - Animals and plants are having to change their areas, extinction is next<br>7.          <description><![CDATA[<div>1998:&nbsp; Under the auspices of the United Nations, the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is a scientific and intergovernmental group that offers the world a clear scientific perspective on the level of knowledge regarding climate change and its possible environmental and socioeconomic implications.<br><br>1992:&nbsp; At the UN's headquarters in New York, the text of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is approved. The primary international agreement to slow global warming and assist in addressing its effects is this one. For the first time, industrialized nations have binding targets for reducing their gas emissions.<br><br>1997: &nbsp; The Kyoto Protocol is the first global agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Protocol imposes strict legal obligations on wealthy nations to reduce their emissions by a minimum of 5% between the years 2008 to 2012, with significant variances among nations.<br><br>2015:&nbsp; The Paris Agreement on combating climate change is the first ever universal, binding international agreement on the subject. The accord aims to keep global temperature increases well below two degrees Celsius over pre-industrial levels while making attempts to keep increases to 1.5 degrees.<br><br>2021:&nbsp; At the longest COP summit ever, nations decided to work toward achieving climate neutrality, increase aid to vulnerable developing nations, and cut back on funding for new fossil fuel projects. They were unable to come to an agreement on how to phase down the use of coal.</div>]]></description>
