In the novel "The Hunger Games", one of the major conflicts mentioned is when Katniss stepped up to take her sister, Primrose's, place in The Hunger Games. In chapter 2, page 22, the novel states "With one sweep of my arms, I push her behind me. "I volunteer!" I gasp. "I volunteer as tribute!"".This shows how the main character Katniss had to step up to be selected to be a tribute in order to protect her sister. As you can see, Katniss stepping up has impacted the story because Katniss has to now deal with being in The Hunger Games.

We're going to kill you" This shows that Clove was going to kill Katniss. As you can see, Katniss almost getting killed has impacted her by making her injured and causing her to be more careful.

One of the topics the author mentioned is determination. The message the author was trying to express was that the cruel acts increased her determination to survive so she could see her family once again. I know this because in the novel in chapter 3, page 52 "“Maybe,” I say, because I can hardly tell my mother to
carry on if I’ve already given up myself. Besides, it isn’t
in my nature to go down without a fight, even when
things seem insurmountable. “Then we’d be rich as
Haymitch.”
“I don’t care if we’re rich. I just want you to come home.
You will try, won’t you? Really, really try?” asks Prim.
“Really, really try. I swear it,” I say. And I know, because
of Prim, I’ll have to.". This means that Katniss is determined to win and go back to see Prim.

One of the topics the author mentioned is sacrifice. The message the author was trying to express was that it is honorable to sacrifice yourself for the ones you love. I know this because in chapter 2, page 22 it says "“Prim!” The strangled cry comes out of my throat, and
my muscles begin to move again. “Prim!” I don’t need to
shove through the crowd. The other kids make way
immediately allowing me a straight path to the stage. I
reach her just as she is about to mount the steps. With
one sweep of my arm, I push her behind me.
“I volunteer!” I gasp. “I volunteer as tribute!” ". To sum it up Katniss stepping up for her sister was honorable.

Overall I was kinda upset when I finished reading this novel because at the end of the book Katniss plays Peeta.
My favorite part was when Katniss stepped up to take prim's place in the hunger games because it showed the love that Katniss had for her sister.
My unfavorite character was Katniss because how she plays Peeta at the end of the book.
If I could change one thing, it would be how they barely described the other districts because it would've helped us understand the characters better.
One technique the author used that I really liked/disliked was figurative language because it added more flavor to the book. One example of this is “The community home would crush her like a bug.” .
I would recommend this book because it's a good read and it always wanted me to read more.

Katniss Everdeen, is a character who is a outcast, and charming. At the start of the novel Katniss does not want anything to do with . I know this because in the text mentions, “"It’s such a joke! Peeta and I going along pretending to be friends!” During the events that unfold, Katniss later starts trusting and creating a relationship Peeta. This can be seen in chapter 19, when it states, “I lean forward and kiss him, stopping his
words. This is probably overdue anyway since he’s
right, we are supposed to be madly in love. It’s the
first time I’ve ever kissed a boy.” At the end of the novel Katniss is sad when Peeta feels like what they had was fake. This information is shown in the book on page 356 when is tells of, ““It was all for the Games,” Peeta says. “How you
acted.”
“Not all of it,” I say, tightly holding onto my flowers.
“Then how much? No, forget that. I guess the real
question is what’s going to be left when we get home?”
he says.
“I don’t know. The closer we get to District Twelve, the
more confused I get,” I say. He waits, for further
explanation, but none’s forthcoming.
“Well, let me know when you work it out,” he says,
and the pain in his voice is palpable.
I know my ears are healed because, even with the
rumble of the engine, I can hear every step he takes
back to the train. By the time I’ve climbed aboard,
Peeta has disappeared into his room for the night. I
don’t see him the next morning, either. In fact, the
next time he turns up, we’re pulling into District 12.
He gives me a nod, his face expressionless.
I want to tell him that he’s not being fair. That we
were strangers. That I did what it took to stay alive, to
keep us both alive in the arena. That I can’t explain
how things are with Gale because I don’t know
myself. That it’s no good loving me because I’m never
going to get married anyway and he’d just end up
hating me later instead of sooner. That if I do have
feelings for him, it doesn’t matter because I’ll never be
able to afford the kind of love that leads to a family, to
children. And how can he? How can he after what
we’ve just been through?
I also want to tell him how much I already miss him.
But that wouldn’t be fair on my part.”. To sum up Katniss ends up catching feelings for Peeta but she cant handle it because all of the trauma and she was not used that kinds of things.
