Shout out to everyone who's trying to learn something interesting right now!!

Hey there, let me introduce myself. I'm Puteri Nur Amelia, 3rd year of Biology student. I was born in a small town called Dalat, Sarawak. i work as Dental Therapists with over 10 years' experience. I love learning to get self-improvement and motivation.

As you can see up there, it is true that all living organisms share some genetic material. There are also variations across the human genome. Research has shown that the people who are closely related have more similar DNA. Genome maintenance is crucial for the survival of all living organisms, as genetic damage can lead to mutations, which can cause diseases such as cancer. The genome is constantly exposed to various endogenous and exogenous factors that can cause DNA damage. To prevent the development of diseases associated with genomic instability, cell have evolved several surveillance, prevention and repair mechanisms. In addition, understanding how genomic information is preserved and transmitted accurately can help us develop new technologies for storing and analyzing large amounts of genetic data.

That's all from me. I hope that i can get more knowledge by learning from Dr. Tasyriq. :)

They share around 40% of their genes with humans and are used to study processes like organ development, cellular repair, and immune responses. Over 90% of the genomes of rats and humans are similar. Rodents are an effective animal model because of the relative stability of a significant section of their DNA. I look forward to learn something from you throughout this course. Hopefully I'll be able to see you soon. Have a blast year with you all!!

Currently working as customer service (yep not related) just studying Bio for fun. (just joking)

Hopefully i can pass this subject this year :')

One example of an organism with genetic material similar to humans is the chimpanzee. Chimpanzees share about 98-99% of their DNA with humans, making them our closest genetic relatives. The structure of DNA in chimpanzees is very similar to that of humans, composed of the same four nucleotides (adenine, cytosine, guanine, and thymine) arranged in double-helix structures. This close genetic similarity explains why humans and chimpanzees have many physiological and behavioral traits in common.

My name is Sebastian, and as at October 2025, I am embarking on my third year in my biology degree with USM. Honeybees are important pollinators of flowering plants, and my reading of studies on honeybee genomes has revealed that genetic similarities do exist to a certain extent between honeybees and humans. Although humans are not close relatives with honeybees (far from it!), certain genetic mechanisms and even genetic profiles appear to be common to both, such that an equivalence in terms of genetic material could potentially make honey bees a model organism to study social behavior. Of course, more research in needed in this aspect! With that said, I look forward to understanding molecular biology better, and I hope we all manage to get through this course.
