The mechanical hound relates to censorship because the dog has been modified by the government to carry out its tasks. It only listens to the government to take out people who do not obey the law, and does nothing else. "It has a trajectory we decide on for it...It's only copper wire, storage batteries, and electricity." (Bradbury 26).

The theme of censorship has been seen through the burning of books because it shows that the society is cutting off the chain of knowledge from books to people and "killing" peoples' freedom.
"The woman knelt among the books, touching the drenched leather...I want to stay here...she opened the fingers of one hand slightly and in the palm of the hand was a single slender object..."

In the quote, it is showing that the woman is refusing to leave the house that the firemen will soon set on fire. This is because she feels that the books are a part of her life and without it, she is nothing to the world. As seen through the example, censorship has had a huge impact on those who are going against the rules and soon enough, it impacts the main character, Montag. The symbol connects with the theme of fire/burning books because society is trying to limit the amount of knowledge intake and are threatened by those who do obtain large amounts of knowledge through the books.

The mechanical hound is a representation of an inhuman figure in the book and only does what it is programmed to do. Referring to the quote, the readers can observe from what is described by both the author and Montag that the dog is only used for purposes of killing those who go against societies rules. The mechanical hound is shown to connect with the theme because it limits what the people are able to do, not just their actions, but their thoughts. That is one of the main reasons why those who love books don't often share it with the world because they know that sooner or later the mechanical hound will be breaking down their door.

The quote is explaining to the reader that Clarisse is forced into going to a psychiatrist because the society believes that there is something utterly wrong with her. When she goes to the psychiatrist, he/she asks what she does during the day and when she responds back with saying that she sits and thinks, it seems as if the psychiatrist is in disbelief that she does this and tries to fix her (Bradbury, 22-23). The symbol of the psychiatrist easily connects with the theme of censorship because the doctor and society are working against Clarisse to make sure that she doesn't keep doing her normal routine which was considered absurd and outrageous.
