Guatemala is a historic beautiful country. Though in current news, Guatemala is having a high act of crime and is soon to be considered a dangerous country. Guatemala is also considered as one of the most beautiful countries in the world.

Around this time Guatemala celebrates 4 holidays. All Saints Day, Christmas eve and day, they also celebrate New Year's Eve. All Saints Day is a day with the dead celebrated in the small highland town of Santiago Sacatepéquez. Christmas Day/Eve are celebrated just like here in America. During New Years and New Years Eve, the community has big parties to celebrate the year and the new years to come.

Guatemala celebrates their holidays with a since of joy and strong faith. Guatemala towns elect groups called "cofradias". Those groups are responsible for prepping for the holiday. Dia de Los Santos has traditions such as flying kites, the day includes music, dances and much more activities. Traditions are a huge part to their culture and religion.

Christmas is a holiday that is celebrated throughout the world. People in Guatemala celebrate Christmas a bit differently than me and my family. They celebrate by hosting parades and showing off religious statues to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. Celebrated at midnight of December 24th, families welcome and entertain guests, go to mass at a local church, share traditional meals. For my family everyone gets together on Christmas Eve, we have dinner, and hangout as a family, we then all gather around and open a few gifts before leaving. On the morning of Christmas, we eat breakfast and wait for my grandparents to come over, once they arrive, we gather in living room and open gifts and hangout as a family.
