Summer is not what it used to be. On a hot August day, an outdoor concert can feel like a picnic in Death Valley. A trip to Disney World is a roller-coaster ride through unshaded hell. The Beach Boys’ “All Summer Long” sounds like a love letter from another planet.

Junior Hansel Grimm campaigns for the public release of the Gretel files in light of recent woodland murders.

"These Gretel files need to be released immediately," said the 16-year-old, brother of alleged killer Gretel Grimm. "It started as self-defense, but it quickly became more after Gretel started cooking innocent people for fun."

Students held picket signs outside the Los Angeles Superior Court to protest the withholding of information regarding numerous murders conducted by serial killer Grimm on Sept. 19. I think I have succeeded in most of my goals. My top priorities were to keep a consistent updating schedule for the Special Reports column, which has been successful, and to effectively communicate across both editors and staff. Since the creation of the Staff Sheet, including the numerous updates I have made since, communication has been more effective in the Pearl Post.

Of course, there is room for improvement, especially regarding the AI policy and making sure staff writers get their work in on time. So, for the next 10 weeks, my goal will be to lean into the role of Managing Editor and make the Pearl Post run quicker and more efficiently.
