The parts of the brain getting used are the Thalamus, the Pons, and the Hypothalamus. The pons contains nuclei that relay signals from the forebrain to the cerebellum, along with nuclei that deal primarily with sleep. The thalamus is involved in sensory and motor signal relay and the regulation of consciousness and sleep. The parts of the brain that I am using for this are the Amygdala, the Cerebellum, and the Medulla. When I play basketball I get all winded from running back and forth, the medulla helps me regulate my breathing. With all that running it is important to stay on my feet, that is why the cerebellum is important because it helps me keep balance.
