The persona in the poem wants his neighbour to discover that ritual of repairing the stonewall but can clearly signify the metaphorical meaning of the barrier between their relationship. The persona refers to gaps in the barrier, this is interpreting the meaning of gaps in their relationship and using stones to fill up the gaps. The potential discovery can be interpreted in the poem as it mentions, "He moves in Darkness".
