The book that I have chosen to read is “Harry Potter and the cursed child”, that is to say , the eighth book of this saga. This time the novelty is that it is a play. From my point of view this fact makes that you can read this book quickier than a novel, everything and what it contains 343 pages. And also it is easier to understand too because instead of descriptions prevail the dialogues. In general I had enjoyed reading it everything and that sometimes the vocabulary was a bit repetitive and specific, what I mean is that it was related to magic themes.

To be able to see series in English and with subtitles I have recently hired Netflix which is a company that provides streaming media. I began to see The Office which is an American series based on an English series but I left to see it because from my point of view its humour was a little difficult to understand, especially at night when you are tired. So looking for something lighter I decided to begin seeing Chesapeake Shores which is a drama television series. I have just finish to see its first season and the character that I understand better it was the grandmother because speaks slower than the others.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nx-0M57diNA

I've been listening to music from a group called The Chainsmokers after listening to them on the radio one day while I was driving. The first thing that draws my attention was the meaning of the name of the group which in singular would be a person who smokes one cigarette after another. It makes sense if you think about the meaning of both words separately! About their lyrics I have to say that they are not difficult to understand and they are repeated for what they are easy to sing.

Some examples of their more famous songs are: “Something just like this”, “Closer”, “Paris”,...

This group makes electronic songs. Their lyrics are not very deep but instead they are easy to understand. They talk about young, love...

Is the typical group that their songs end up being successful and are very hooked. To pass a good time and dance.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_ppsAcbZDo

In the Secondary School where I work every school year an exchange is made with a German School. During the week that German students are in Spain some days they come our classes to see how it is taught here. This course some of them came to my class of level 4th. We had just seen a German film called “Good bye Lenin” about the fall of the Wall in Germany so I thought to take advantage of this fact. The day before we were thinking about the questions we wanted to do them in English about their knowledge of this historical fact. So the day that our guests students came to our special class I became a moderator and an interviewer sometimes too because my students were shy of having to ask at the beginning of the session.

One day that we are celebrating my nephew’s birthday I had the opportunity to meet a woman that came from England. She was invited to the party because his husband was a friend of my brother-in-law. I did not want to miss the opportunity of talking about Brexit with her. She was against the exit of UK from the EU. From her point of view many people that had vote in favour of Brexit had been convinced with skewed information. And when the results of the vote said yes to Brexit some of them, with the pass of the days, began to realize that the decision had been a mistake.

I had tried to see films in English with subtitles in English, in Spanish and without subtitles to decide what option it works better in my case. One film that I saw with subtitles in English was an Indi movie called The First Time. Their main characters are teenagers which makes their language not the conventional one. They use young slang and they speak very quickly.

To try without subtitles one that I choose was My Fake Fiancé a romantic comedy. The truth is that everything and not having the support of the subtitles I found it easy to understand it I imagine that for the subject.

And to finish with my experiment one that I watched with subtitles in Spanish was Friends with Benefits. This film is a romantic comedy too. This option allowed me to realize how they say certain expressions in English compared to Spanish.

A couple of middle age English tourists wanted to know where their hotel was. I looked on google maps because I don’t live in Cornella for what I don’t know where hotels are. When I found their hotel I tried to explain how to arrive it. The pity was that my bus came and I didn’t have much time to explain it better.
