According to Dave Chaffey, with a total of 4.70 billion social media users, more than half of the world (59%) now uses social media. Social media has become an important aspect of our lives nowadays and is quite helpful. Social media is important for some of us for a variety of reasons, including keeping up with trends, being informed of the newest news, and even helping us in making new online friends.

However, I think we can all agree that even when people are out with a companion, the majority of individuals on the street seem to have their eyes glued to their phones. The fact that people are preoccupied with their phones rather than striking up a conversation with their loved ones or friends shows how social media has changed the dynamics of human interaction. In the video attached at the upper right side of the blog, the speaker, Allison Graham stated at the end of the talk that “We would all live life better if we had hands to hold rather than keys to click”. How nice it would be if we used our time to engage ourselves in a meaningful conversation or in a fun activity with our family and friends than waste it in using social media. 

          One common issue on how online technology affected the way we deal with other people is the way we deal with our problems which became different the moment we learned about social media. Nowadays, people will post what is known as a "call out" to someone they have an issue with on their status rather than speaking with them directly. In the present day, some internet users like stirring up controversy on social media only to get viral. Not only with the way we handle our problems but online users also tend to categorize a person depending on their number of likes on social media. This also affects the way we deal with the people around us.
