In 1815 there was a war between England and New Orleans. It was the last major battle of 1812 but it didn't actually happen until January 8th, 1815. 
Hurricane Katrina
On August 29, 2005 hurricane Katrina struck the golf coast of the United States. This hurricane had winds from 100-140 mph and it stretched about 400 miles across. This hurricane caused so much damage and the cost to repair the damages were up to 100 billion dollars.

Came from Paris a celebration from the Middle Ages. A French explorer named Iberville who cristened the land where they celebrated the holiday calling the land "Point du Mardi Gras". It's the American version of Carnival found in Europe. It was a celebration before the fourty days of Lent.
