As things in the world become quite worrying we have been asked to put plans together to teach our students online if the need arises.

Preparing Students to Learn Online
Tutors -this week ensure all students are enrollled and that they have logged on Goggle classroon, Google drive and Google documents on chromebooks and phones. Ask your students to bring in tablets and or laptops etc and help them to log in with college account to all 3 apps. Assessors please help with this. In the lesson this week teach them to work from a Google document and show them how to hand it in so they have completed the whole process with support in the classroom. I am creating all the level 3 one files ( and level 1) but level 2 will have to work on classroom.
Please make sure your classroom is well organised and dated so it is easy to navigate for a student or another colleague if you needed to be at home. I have attached photos on the Google post of what it needs to look like. For each session there needs to be
1. A materials post with a date,learning focus and learning intention
2. An assignment post with work to complete.
Please organise under the correct topic so students can find it. Show them on their phone how the post turns grey when they have opened it. I am going to message on classroom if students need it ( you could use hangouts but adds another app)

Health Advice

In line with PHE we will follow the guidance issued to the country. Wash hands well and avoid direct contact. Anyone with flu symptoms should self isolate for 7 days or 14 days if contact with coronavirus or been to a country identified in the document.If you are self isolating you need to text me ASAP and put work on Google Classroom. Kim and myself will try to cover but much will depend on the scale of illness.
Please advise you students the same and tell them to not listen to rumour. Perhaps some reading out loud practise about corona virus could be useful! If the college has to close we will be informed as to how students will be communicated with.

Staff
Please make sure you can get online for emails,Promonitor,Proobserve, Google and One File. If NOT come and see me so we can help as you will be expected to work at home. Assessors this week please complete as many observations as possible EYP and EYE - ring students to see if they can be brought forward, Charlotte also has some high risk students I would like visiting next week/ week after to see if we can take them onto EYP 2 . Assessors also consider what could be worked on if you were unable to visit the workplace.

Tuesday 17th March Read/Write Traning Session at Beeston. Can we try meet at 3.15 so we can have 10 minutes looking at the online teach plan and issues/solutions/comments you can see.? Please bring chromebooks

3.30pm Tea and cakes with Ann -Marie at Beeston - Please add to your diary as I would like as many staff as possible as this is a staff listening session - a chance to give your feedback ( positive as well please!)

In case you have not read the announcement - Sarah our boss has decided to move on to 16-18year olds at Keighley. She will be with us until the end of June but business as usual- we will sort our own problems as always and celebrate our successes too..

Have a lovely and safe week - lets all support each other as we tackle global and personal struggles. This really is the best team in the college and thank you for all being part of it. I am always so proud to say that in the many meetings I attend.
