The Edgar Allan Poe Cottage is the former home of American writer Edgar Allan Poe. It is located on Kingsbridge Road and the Grand Concourse in The Bronx, New York, a short distance from its original location, and is now in the northern part of Poe Park. Poe paid either $5 rent per month or $100 per year.

He was an american writer, editor and literacy critic. He is known for his poetry and short stories. He is considered as the inventor of detective fiction. He tried makong a living through writing which was hard for him sinc publishers did not want to pay him much so he often needed to plead. Also, the industry was hurt by the Panic of 1837, where profits, prices, and wages went down and unemployment went up.

You can see, that the house isnt so fancy, portraying his living situations and his lack of momey sort of. I feel like this monument isnt necessarily a reflection of the Bronx but a reflection of the time period that the person who lived there went through.

The monument I depieted is Charging Bull. Its designer Arturo Di Modica chose to place it in the Wall Street which is also near the Stock Exchange because he believed it’s the heart of the world finances and the monument would definitely become popular and bring luck to this community. The Charging Bull now represents the stock market and anything related to business. It contains its designer’s hope and bless of business, and eventually becomes the symbol of the community, which is Wall Street.

The two monuments in my town(s) are dedicated to 9/11. They are memorials, made to represent all the lives that were lost on that day. Their stories are told through the rusted, burnt pieces of the towers that are propped up for all to see. Both memorials are placed at eye level, to show that all these people were just like you, an ordinary day with their schedule. They aren't people to look up to, because they are already on our level. These monuments represent our tristate community because it reminds us of how we all came together to help each other rebuild what was lost. On a national level, this represents the fear that spread like flies across America, and has turned us into something indescribable. Fun fact: it was the first 9/11 monument in America.

The monuments in my community often depict black figures who have accomplished something in history (i.e. Clayton Powell Jr). These stores are told through the way Powell walks up a mountain, which can be seen as Powell working hard to reach his goals, no matter what obstacles he faces. These monuments reflect my community’s inspiration and hopes to reach their goals in a society that isn’t always supportive of their success.

The Dey Mansion is a museum in my town, Wayne NJ, that served as George Washington's Headquarters during the Revolutionary War. He stayed there multiple times with other important people such as Alexander Hamilton. It is now a place where you can visit to learn more about the Revolutionary War. It depicts Washington as a war hero and a kind man through his letters that he wrote while staying there. Having said that, this causes people to lose sight of all the terrible things Washington did and the actual person he was. This reflects my town because I believe the people in my town refuse to acknowledge the harsh truths of history and would instead prefer ignorant bliss as to not feel guilty.
