         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>HOBSON HALL 2016</strong></div><div> </div><div><strong>The last meal at Hobson Dining Hall is breakfast on Sunday 29 November (still to be confirmed).</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>ALL</strong> <strong>rooms are to be cleaned/packed up COMPLETELY.</strong></div><div> </div><div>Trunks and boxes may be left in the designated box room areas <strong>AT YOUR OWN RISK</strong>.  All items placed in box rooms must be secured with tape and your name written clearly on them and details recorded on the appropriate form and signed.  Please pack into boxes, items such as continental pillows, teddy bears etc.  <strong>DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING LOOSE</strong>. </div><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>The box rooms will be open at specified times only. </strong></div><div> </div><div>Do not pack academic textbooks which may be needed for supplementary exams in the New Year - take them home with you.  There will be no access to box rooms at all over the December/January vac period as all Wardens and the Hall Administrator will be away/on LEAVE.</div><div> </div><div>Students moving to digs in 2016 must strictly adhere to the dates &amp; times stipulated by their Warden/Sub-Wardens when collecting their items from the box rooms in the New Year.  Students not returning to residence in 2016 must ensure that they have collected ALL their belongings during or before the March/April vacation. Any items left in the box rooms after the commencement of the 2nd term in 2016 will be sold and the proceeds deposited into House/Hall Funds. </div><div> </div><h1>Before you leave:-</h1><div>1.      PLEASE ENSURE that your windows are shut securely, the curtains drawn and that all electrical appliances are unplugged.</div><div>2.      MAKE SURE that taps are closed tightly and that the plug is not left in the basin.</div><div>3.      Strip your bed and fold linen and blankets neatly <strong>AND LEAVE ON YOUR BED</strong> – any missing items/items locked away, will be charged to your student account.  <strong>They must not be locked away and must be visible ON YOUR BED.</strong></div><div>4.      Vacuum your room and clean the basin. Students who leave their rooms unvacuumed and dirty will incur a fine charged to their student account by Housekeeping.  Please respect the Housekeeping Staff and leave your room clean and tidy.</div><div>5.      Place recycled waste in the bins provided.</div><div>6.      Move ALL furniture into their original position.</div><div>7.      All bed boards to be under the mattress.</div><div>8.      No common room chairs allowed in any room.</div><div>9.      Remove any prestik and posters.</div><div>10.   <strong>ALL STUDENTS to hand in room keys</strong> to Warden/Sub-Wardens - failure to do so will incur a fine and the cost of replacing the key.</div><div>11.   Ask a Sub-Warden to check your room.  Anything found missing or damaged will be charged to your student account if it has not been reported by you before you leave and explained to your Warden’s satisfaction.</div><div>12.   <strong>Close your room door when you leave.</strong></div><div>13.   <strong>Sign out on the Departure List when you leave</strong> – failure to do so will incur a fine.</div><div> </div><div><strong>PLEASE NOTE:</strong></div><div> </div><div>·         <strong>YOU ARE REQUIRED TO VACATE YOUR ROOM BY NO LATER THAN 2 DAYS AFTER YOUR LAST EXAM.   </strong>(e.g.  if your last exam is on the 23rd November, you have to vacate your room by midnight on 25th November, and this is also when your fingerprint access to residence ends). Students who are not writing exams (including those who have not obtained DP certificates) must leave residence before exams commence.  <strong>If you are unable to depart on time you must speak to your Warden in advance please.</strong></div><div>·         Students who, for any valid reason (i.e. transport), need to depart late or return early must complete the relevant form (this needs the Warden’s approval) available from the Hall Administrator,  Student Bureau or Conference Office on the 1st Floor of the Bantu Stephen Biko Building (Union Building). Depart late/return early application forms must be submitted to Heidi Smith [<strong>with warden’s signature</strong>], Infrastructure and Operations Division, 33 South Street.</div><div>·         <strong>NO students will be allowed to remain in residence after 10 a.m. on Sunday 29th November 2016.</strong></div><div>·         If a student departs late or arrives early <strong>WITHOUT MAKING PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS</strong>, they will be charged a daily fee, however, if you did not apply in advance there might not be any accommodation available!</div><div>·         <strong>Residences re-open for returning students on THURSDAY 11th FEBRUARY 2016.  The first meal is Supper. </strong></div><div>·         <strong>NO returning students (except leadership students) will be allowed into residence before the 11th February 2016.  </strong></div><div>·         <strong>Students needing to return early for academic reasons need to ask their academic department to organise accommodation for them or academic department to liaise with the Hall Warden to see if an arrangement can be made.  SRC helpers need to ask the SRC to organise accommodation for them.</strong></div><div>·         Supplementary exam and summer school accommodation to be booked with the Conference Office.  <a href="mailto:conference@ru.ac.za">conference@ru.ac.za</a></div>]]></description>
