<title>Most country&#39;s around this this time are a democracy which is power of the people. we have the voices to choice who we want to run our country. In Athens it was a direct democracy unlike the united states which is a representative democracy. A representative democracy is when people can vote for representatives who then decide issues on behalf of the people. A direct democracy is where the people can vote on all of the issues and problems going on in that period of time.</title>

<title>Next there&#39;s tyranny. A form of government where only one individual rules and got his power not by the choice of people but by force. That king is not a good ruler and doesn&#39;t do anything really good for the country but only things for themselves. A tyranny is another term for dictator ship. A country run by tyranny is North Korea and Iran.</title>

<title>Oligarchy is also another form of government. Oligarchy is where a group of people share power. I learned that between 800 and 650 B.C.E., some Greek city-states were ruled by a small group of men who had money which is Oligarchy. Most oligarchs had very nice and comfortable lives. The oligarchs in Greece did not care or do anything about the unfair differences between how much money and the good lives they were leaving compared to the poor people who were always working to try and make some money. They mad laws that did not do anything good for the poor. Eventully the poor realized that they could have better leaders and found some so didn&#39;t follow any of the oligarchs unfair rules. so over time oligarchs were overthrown and lost control of all the power they had</title>

<title>In monarchy one person has power like in tyranny but didn&#39;t get the power by force but inherits it. From about 2000 to 800 B.C.E., most Greek city-states were ruled by a monarch, or king. In a monarchy, the governing power is in the hands of one person, usually a king. Greek settlements did not allow queens to govern. When a king died, another leader was selected to take his place. However, kings demanded that after their death their power should be passed down to their children, usually to the oldest son. Kings had councils of aristocrats to advise them. At first, councils of aristocrats had little actual power, But during wartime, kings depended on their support a lot.</title>

<title>Since I mentioned that there are countries who do not run by the form of democracy I wanted to compare and contrast what it is like living under the form of government, tyranny. so I will do North Korea which is a dictator ship. The North Korean government consists of three branches: administrative, legislative, and judicial. However, they are not independent of each other. North Korean citizens usually cannot freely travel around the country, North Korean refugees who flee to China are often later forcibly repatriated back to North Korea by authorities, are routinely beaten and sent to prison camps. In america it certainly is not like that what so ever. You can leave the country whenever you want as long as you have a green card or US passport to come back in with and you wont get beaten if you leave the country. North Koreans are voting to elect the country&#39;s rubber-stamp parliament, the second such election since Kim Jong-un took power. ... North Korea is an isolated state, ruled by the Kim family dynasty. Citizens are required to show complete devotion to the family and its current leader. I personally don&#39;t think this country has any equality for its citizens.</title>

<title>Mrs Lipman&#39;s pretension helped me understand that somethings can not always be far and that the rules set to keep our school safe are probably for the best even if they do not seem fair. I defiantly think we should be able to include at least the older kids (5th thru 6th) into some decisions that the school leadership team makes. At least things that effect us. I personally don&#39;t think we can really have anything like a student council just because the only real mature kids who wouldn&#39;t make up a rule for pizza to be free would be the 5th and 6th graders. But for the kids that you see have good grades, are respectful and mature maybe they can have a spot on the school leadership team. we can decide on things like what type of celebrations we can have when the whole school won one. we can decide on what type of assignments we should do when there&#39;s options than the students choice from the options, and whatever one wins we do. </title>

<title>What allowed democracy to flourish in Athens was the state of its economy. In the 5th century BC the trade in wine and olives allowed the Greeks to rise above self-sufficiency. Constant war produced a ready supply of slaves to do most of the work which gave citizens the leisure to participate in government. Not all Greeks believed that democracy was a good type of government. Powerful speakers sometimes persuaded ordinary citizens to vote unwisely. Often, an assembly reversed important decisions after just a few weeks. Problems like these led most city states to return to earlier forms of government, such as dictatorship and oligarchies.</title>

<title>Democracy was first introduced in the US in 1835. Ant to this day it hasn&#39;t changed. However I don&#39;t think the united states is a real democracy, if it was a lot of things would be different. Americans are realizing that we don&#39;t have the voices we should and have found other ways to get their voices heard. For example social media. The uprising of social media has made a lot people see what they could do. Social media has given ordinary Americans, especially younger ones, a feel for direct democracy. Seeing that side of things makes the work of the United States government seems noneffective, outmoded, and shockingly unresponsive.</title>
