I love this abstract by Jean Debuffet because I find it so freeing. I love abstract art because there are no rules and it allows the artist to express their feelings and thoughts freely. This is an art brut and I love that phrase and idea of painting like a child. I find this painting to be powerful because even in the uneasiness of life, there is still beauty in it.

I love this landscape painting by Jacob van Ruisdael because I think it is so peaceful and relaxing. As soon as I see this painting it is immediate stillness. I think of the business of life and then look at this and everything slows down. I think this is a place I would like to be to think quietly with my own thoughts and meditate.

I love this metamorphosis study because it reminds me of the new promises that spring brings each year. After it has been cold and dreary for months, when the flowers start to bloom the trees begin to produce their fruits and the caterpillars change into butterflies, you know it is spring again. I love the colors of this study. I like how she incorporated a sweet fruit into the study as well. This piece of art reminds me of some prints my great grandmother had hanging in her home that I loved.

Lavender Mist by Jackson Pollock is very interesting to me. Although some may think his painting style is not art, I find it so fun. I think he was taking hold of painting like a child. I love how abstract he is. I paint and my favorite thing to paint is abstracts. I find myself getting lost in the simplicity of throwing paint on a canvas in no organized fashion and watching it turn into something beautiful. I find that is the only way my world can get quiet and the thoughts in my head stop bouncing around.
