She wrote the acclaimed novel "Woman at Point Zero" while doing research for a psychology study she was conducting. Saadawi's dedication to women's rights and representation led to her eventual arrest for publishing "inflammatory" articles in an Egyptian newspaper. After her release Saadawi moved to the United States, where her work quickly brought her to the limelight.
