I absolutely love working with children and cannot wait to start my career. This is my first time taking online classes so I'm a little nervous. As far as defining art, I believe art is a way for any individual to be able to express their personal emotions and visions in a creative way.

I am a Criminal Justice major in my first year at LLCC. As far as my personal definition of art, I like what the book says, "We form art, arm forms us." It seems that good art stays with us and makes us think or feel. The same that a good book or movie does.

Hello, my name is Emma. I am currently in my second year at LLCC and I hope this is my last semester to achieve my Associates in Science. I am pursuing a Bachelors in Nursing. I currently am working at St. Johns Birth Center as a tech and hope to change roles to an RN in a couple years.

My form of art would be a craft or activity that has some passion. I think crafts allow for artists to express their mind through it.

I recently decided to go back to school to see if I could finish what I started...I am working on my Associates in Business Admin while working full-time. I recently moved here from SD and during the winters I sometimes wonder why???

Art is so many things, and different for any one individual. Be it color, or scenery or maybe something made by hand, it is whatever is beautiful to that one individual.

Hello, My name is Bethany. I am a Cosmetologist and a Cosmetologist Instructor. I am working on some classes at LLCC and some classes at SIUC. I am working on a Bachelors degree in management. I have 4 beautiful children and a wonderful Hubby. Art to me is your freedom of speech. a way to express yourself and nobody has to understand it or appreciate it. I Really enjoy trying to interpret others work. I am not an artist in an art since and I can not draw by any means. But I am a creative artistic hair designer and I love every moment of it. I have a super creative mind when it comes to a lot of things especially crafting. I Believe that everyone has an artistic ability you just have to find and embrace your nitch within your professional field or hobby. Hello everyone! I'm Layne! I am a sophomore here at LLCC! I am finishing up my associates in the spring, and I am transferring to SLU in the fall. I am very excited to carry on my academic journey in St. Louis! In my free time, I wait tables at a local pub and grill. However, I do dedicate a lot of my time to my studies. Art is everywhere, and anything you want to be! The beauty of art surrounds us daily, whether we decorate or homes with it, see an exhibit, or even the art in nature. It can be paintings, drawing, sculptures, monuments, buildings, sounds, and so much more! It is hard to limit the definition of hard because it is so versatile. I can't wait to learn more about the around in our world!

Hey! I am back in school after finishing cosmetology school straight out of HS. I have been working as a nail and hairstylist since the Summer of 2014. I am getting my associates in Psychology, so I can get my Masters to work in a pregnancy crisis center as a pregnancy counselor. Along with being an FFA officer, I was also in Art Club and was an honors art student. I believe that everyone has their own definition of art, but it is whatever helps you express yourself and you find beautiful.

Hello. Most just call me Kim. I am taking this course to finally complete my Associates in Business Administration. Hopefully by the fall I will be able to begin my Bachelors at UIS however I am soon to become a mother, at the end of April, so we'll see how life goes. Art can be seen in everything, everywhere. From the way a creek cuts through the earth, to the seemingly endless parallel between the rails of train tracks. Created art, in all its forms, is how persons and their imaginations interpret the natural art of the world.

Hello. My name is Matt. I am a registered nurse. I actually graduated from LLCC 20 years ago this year. I am slowly accumulating my general education requirements to pursue a higher degree. To me art is...confusing. I can appreciate the level of artistic craftsmanship that goes into artistic creation. But, when people look at a piece of art and talk about the symbolism and deeper meaning, I feel lost. This is especially true of more contemporary artistic expressions. I hope to gain more understanding from this course and maybe boost my own lackluster creativity.

In addition to being a professor and practicing artist, I'm a stay-at home dad. So, online classes are great for my schedule. I would define art as a kind of compulsion. It's something I have to do, and I wouldn't feel complete if I didn't make it into the studio at least 20 hours a week. Hello! I am currently a toddler teacher at a daycare. I have two classes left to finish my associate degree in early childhood education. I started out at LLCC fully intending on obtaining my associate in ECE, but I ended up transferring to Blackburn for a year for Elementary Education. My decision to come back to LLCC to finish my ECE degree was mainly due to my current job. I am a single mother of 2 and online classes are perfect for my hectic schedule. I just hope I can keep up!

Art to me is a way to express yourself. I myself am not very artistic, but i do find that doodling or coloring with my kids can be quite calming!

Hello everyone! I currently work for SIU School of Medicine and am finishing up my Bachelor's degree in Workforce Education Development. Art to me is what we allow our imaginations let it be. Just like beauty is in the eye of the beholder, well so is art. In order to open your eyes to art, you have to open your mind as well. When my sons were little and shared a room, I painted it two shades of blue and in one spot I put their hand prints. That room has been painted several times since then but those hand prints remain with a frame around them. My sons are much older now and when they asked me why I keep their hand prints framed on the wall like that. I tell them it's because that's the first art they ever did for me.

Hello, I am currently back in college to finish my associates degree. All of my children are in school and I felt it was time for me to accomplish my goal. I' m super excited for this new journey. I plan on becoming a Neurodiagnostic Technologist. The program begins in the Fall. Art to me is not one specific thing. It is music, a doodle, a collage, a statue, a human body, a photo, a setting, etc. Art is an expression of feelings and should evoke feelings as well. Art is love in our own form of expression.

Hello! I am currently an online student at Eastern Illinois University in their business program. I am a director of a local not for profit. I have 7 year-old twin girls. I have been very fortunate to have advanced in my career based on my experience in fundraising and development but obtaining a degree is very important to me. I would define art as an expression or feeling, typically depicted in visual form. I truly enjoy the arts in many forms. One of my favorite places is the Met in NYC.

Hi! My name is Victoria. I am currently a student at Illinois College, and this is my first class at LLCC (I'll be transferring the credits over). I have had a few art classes, and I have enjoyed all of them. This coming semester I'll be taking graphic design so I think that class in addition to this class will be interesting! My personal definition of art is the expression of emotions, which can be depicted in a number of ways. That definition seems cookie cutter, but I believe that it is a broad definition. Art isn't something that should be narrowly defined.

I have worked in Illinois state government for 17 years, with a couple of jumps to the private sector in between. Never did finish getting my degree, and am back now as an old man. Kids, stay in school. I define art as any image or sound that inspires you. I guess I could add taste (great food can be called art, I think). Smell? I don't know. Is there texture art? I think I need to add feel in here somehow.

Well as you can see my names Brianna Icenogle. I am finally in my home stretch of classes to graduate at LLCC. Once I'm done there I plan on going to UIS so get my bachelors in Social Work. I work full-time at St. John's College of Nursing. I enjoy a lot of different things such as movies, swimming, camping, and exploring different places I've never been.
