In week 1, I started the first-week course with Line. We also looked at blind contours, contours, cross-sections, and negative spaces. I was very nervous because I was drawing with a pencil after a long time, and I was clumsy but most of all, I enjoyed it more than anything else. It was a time to realize that the way back to the basics was always necessary and the basics were the most important. My favourite part was the blind contour. My paper and my pencil were completely ignored, and the way I looked at things was quite interesting. But I was forced to instinctively look at the paper, but I went through the process of enduring it. On the other hand, what I found most difficult was negative space and cross-sectional area. It was a part that required concentration, along with technical details, considering the colour, shape, and overall size of an object. I think I need to secure it because the part that makes me imagine the actual shape while looking carefully at the cross-sectional review is not working well. I'm not used to my hands yet, so I have to practice drawing various lines with graphite. It was a very useful class and thanks to the teacher, I was able to go back to my original intention and it was fun.

In week 2, the second week consisted of several techniques that I am confident in. I used to enjoy sitting in front of an easel for a long time as a child, putting paper on a drawing board and drawing with a long pencil. It is most enjoyable to observe and draw things from brightness to darkness to reflect light for light and shade. In class, we learned to distinguish and represent the differences and contrast levels that each tool type of technology creates through reference to the slides. Along with the most representative figure, the part where the tone is laid down and made three-dimensional was also not easy. My lines are still rough, and I'm still learning how to write lines smoothly. So I didn't get a result that felt softer than I thought, but I think it's getting noticeably better as I keep practising repeatedly. If I have a chance someday, I would like to draw a more complicated plaster figure. This is because it is the best way to understand three-dimensional objects.

In week 3, the goal of Week 3 was to express textures with a technique called "Frottage." The technology consists of placing textured objects that stick out under the paper and painting lines on them to create depth. What we need to do around here is we need to use thinner paper. Otherwise, it is difficult for the texture to appear clearly on the paper. Through the "Frottage" technique, I experienced the texture of things indirectly, and then I observed things directly and described them in detail using pens and fine liners. My favourite thing is precision. It's so fascinating and simple to express a unique feeling with graphite as it is. I think it's the visual depth that draws various lines through cross-hatching and scribbling techniques and they blend together on paper. After three weeks, I could feel myself growing up a little bit. I am thankful that I can learn things about drawing in English through this course.

Week 4 was being a little more special. I could feel like I'm building on repetition for this three weeks. Thanks to them, this time, I started with geometric basic figures for creative design using lines, shapes, colours, tones/values, forms, textures, spaces, which are the basics of design and components. Seven techniques were drawn in the shape of seven squares to warm up. Also, after describing the interesting space of objects and collages were made though macro and micro. Based on these, bold shapes and lines literally make up our modernity and convey it to many perspectives and various mediums when expressed correctly, so it is very important to plan the later design process. For example, a single illustration cover is created across scenario sketches. Or there are layout drawings of our city, such as architectural styles. Therefore, I have to practice steadily. To be honest with you, it's not that difficult for me to look at things and draw them as they are, but when I create seven squares, I struggle very much to express rhythm, movement, and proportion with just three shapes. More samples need to be considered.

In Week 5, I learned the prompts and main ideas for painting in my daily life. We once again used geometric figures to move from 1D to 2D to 3D through lines and space filling. These activities were tasks that helped them become the basis for a unique and specific construction structure in the future. I did rapid sketching into an opera house famous for its Australian landmarks. Then I had the opportunity to form a mind map, come up with a word, then write down dozens of words, including the words that are immediately related, and then the words that I imagined. I could embrace various nouns and adjectives, and consider a total of three ways of thinking. It's divergent thinking - using imagination, convergent thinking - using logic, lateral thinking. Using this creative imagination, it entertained me and gave me the opportunity to come up with almost abstract ideas from simple objects. Mind mapping could be created as a mixture by collecting words and integrating them into one. I drew activities from Illustration prompts and compostie object drawing _ abstract Sundays shetche, and I still don't understand the ropes of ideas, but I believe these quick activities will help me create unique ideas in the future.

In the sixth week, it was mainly done with portraits. To be honest, I'm not good at drawing people normally. This activity allowed me to practice various human form. I practiced things that express the outline, movement, and rhythm of the character so that it can be felt dynamically. And to show a more natural shape, we needed to work on the lines in several directions. Negative and positive spatial drawings allowed graphite to be used to try to recognize the shape of a lump as a human figure. The pictures of the ethnographic pictures were the most difficult to show. I looked at majority of reference pictures and drew with fast, slow, strong, and continuous lines. In addition, they also worked on modeling real people in person, not pictures. It was so interesting and fascinating to me to paint an object that I wanted to portray by drawing abstract lines on a white drawing paper. Next time, I would like to draw a portrait, which is a realistic description through a more precise description than a croquis. It would also be fun to draw various parts by dividing them into whole body, half body, and portrait. As expected, it is most important to build a large amount of drawing for my ability to create.

Week 7 Reflection

I started a whole new drawing in Week 7. It learned a type of linear perspective called one-point perspective. Linear perspective expressed space and shape on a two-dimensional surface. And also a structured approach. We focused on the vanishing point in the middle and used perspective based on that point. And then I drew a line across the horizon that separates the ground from the sky, and I placed dots on the horizon. All the perspective lines connect to one point and retreat to a single point. I tried to look at it from a more accurate and calculating perspective that week and learned the teacher's explanation and theory more carefully. This drawing required a ruler. I used a 15cm ruler, but it's shorter than I thought and it's hard to use, so I thought I'd use another longer 30cm ruler. At first, I used squares for warming up the level line, put a vanishing point on the middle horizon, go through the line indefinitely, and draw things that get smaller as they retreat. It was very difficult and never easy, even though it was just to draw a square by drawing a lot of lines using a roller. I've struggled a lot even to draw a line to find a point that I'm aiming for. I drew it with an indelible marker, so it was not easy to reverse it even if I made a mistake. So drawing a collection of abstract geometric objects was also prone to mistakes. And then I drew a common and friendly drawing using one point. The interior of the house was drawn using the same approach. I defined a horizontal line, placed a vanishing point on the horizon, and then created a line extending a right-angled, backward diagonal toward the vanishing point to draw the shape of an object or furniture. At first, it was awkward when I saw it with the naked eye, but when I repeatedly drew several test lines with graphite and erased them, I became more advanced than before and got used to it. Next time, I think it'll be cooler if I draw it neatly.

In this week 8, we continued to draw linear perspective, focusing on two-point perspective. Following the one-point perspective in Week 7, I drew on the two-point perspective drawing. In this drawing, all lines are vertical lines or perspective lines. Objects in space converged into perspective with two central vanishing points on the horizon. In two-point perspective, two vanishing points are placed on the horizon and the two points must be properly spaced from each other to prevent distortion or error. Unlike one point, the two points do not exist within the spatial plane of the figure, but are outside. Vertical lines come from the corners of a three-dimensional object. Retreating lines are drawn at each end of the corner, where the lines intersect. The orthogonal line moves the set of parallel lines away from the viewer to the point where it gradually moves away and disappears. It is important to accurately fix the eye level and horizontal position using a ruler to maintain a good proportional relationship. I drew furniture based on this. I drew a chair and it was a little bit easier than a round chair with a circular tip or a curved chair because the chair I drew was made of a right angle. In the first step, we took a large right angle frame and then subdivided it gradually. And then we put two areas on the back of the chair, the base, and the four legs to shape the chair. After practising drawing furniture, I arranged furniture in the room and drew interior design. And I've drawn the extras with abstract geometric figures. These will be the foundation for me to design space and design buildings in the future, just as I draw the interior and exterior that I drew in this way. I've been looking for proportions that fit me by drawing and erasing many lines with graphite. It is still difficult to draw a lot of vertical lines on blank paper and match the proportion and two-point perspective.

In this week 9, I looked at isometric and orthogonal projections. As I predicted before, it was a key technology to learn and understand the process of architecture, industry, interior design, and product design. Isotropy is a method of implementing the graphics of three-dimensional objects used by designers. Unlike previous one-point and two-point perspective points, iso-angle coexists with three parallel sides. It's a non-distorted representation, that is, it's aimed at combining all three sides with what looks the same. I practiced drawing iso-angle drawings with iso-angle paper, not white paper, by printing 2D drawings made to convey the illusion of 3D reality in advance before class. It was also easy to use with a square ruler set at 30 degrees. In order to adapt to this drawing, I drew the rectangles and put them together to make it more three-dimensional. Next is lettering. I implemented three-dimensional lettering with the same ratio, parallel lines and area of the alphabet obliquely oriented. What I thought while doing these things was that it took more time and energy than I imagined. After practicing the basics, I also tried to see the decomposed view in more detail and how individual elements interact with each other. [Voiceover] I've drawn the three-dimensional quantity and the light and the light and the side that we see when we look at things in differently. I drew four views by referring to the 3D robot on the website, watching it from the front, from the top, from the side, and from all three sides. I was interested and quite content to paint the same thing over and over again from different perspectives. Finally, I set the interior of the house as if it were an interior 3D modeling and imagined the room. Designing with clean, bright lines for three weeks, seven, eight, and nine weeks, was never an easy task, and it was a lot of repetition.

What inspired you to pick the theme, topic, or content
-To be honest, there have been many days when I spent all night studying and doing homework at the end of this Trimester. I think it's a time when the dark, quiet, and calm dawn comes to me more inspirational than the day when the sun is up. Dawn can make people a little negative. I like the darkness that reminds me of black. I love cold or monotone colours. Achromatic colours make me feel comfortable without any reason.

What inspired you to pick the theme, topic, or content
-Many things come to mind when I spend the dawn. As I spend the dawn, my friends ask me a lot of times If I am an owl. Haha I agree and not everyone will be like me but I take caffeine to stay awake. A cup of warm drip coffee is my pleasure. I give myself cookies as if they were compensating me. I don't know if eating cookies in Australia is a reward, but in Korea, eating cookies also means being rewarded. However, drinking a lot of coffee, eating a lot of sweets, and lack of sleep are bad for my health. That's why I naturally think of a skeleton. Additionally, smoking comes to mind at dawn, and when I smoke, I can see street lights and trees in the dark sky at dawn. Yeah, I do like these things.

What your drawings are trying to communicate and how you have done this
-I don't think there's much meaning to convey in my work. I probably worked on it because I wanted to share the emotions I felt with people. I thought about adding colour, but I changed my mind, so I used a black pen to draw. I think this made it even better. I drew at least 6 hours in total for 4 days. I've stacked a lot of lines together to create a concentration.

If applicable, how your drawings are connected
-These are the ways that I project on my work: Line, Contour and Shape, Tone and Shading: Describing Volume and mass through Tone, Texture, Contrast and Visual Depth, Elements of Design and Composition, Mapping and Design Generation - Drawing from the Imagination

If applicable, how these drawings relate to your future design practice and ambitions
-I'd like to title my last major work, but it's not easy. This is because the title building on the original artwork plays a very big role in bringing the image of the artwork. It's the same in design, of course. If I were to rephrase my work commercially, I think it could be a band album cover jacket with a genre like a rock.

How you have improved over the Trimester
-I learned the basics of one-point, and two-point perspectives for the first time. It was very helpful to build the basics slowly step by step, so I was able to develop. I was able to continue without losing my touch because I had practice before class, work during class, and work after class every week.

How happy are you with your final major drawing
-During this time of the Trimester, the hand drawing class made me very happy. Sometimes it's hard and sometimes it's easy, but hand drawing takes a lot of time and effort, and there's as much concentration as I draw the line. That's why I like honest drawing that looks very much. I was proud of myself when I focused on myself with only pencils, pens, erasers, and drawings.

What challenges did you identity and overcome
-It's not always easy to come up with ideas. I think creation is the most difficult, but there is enough environment to be inspired and recalled in many places. I think the most important way is to do mind mapping again and again.

Now that you have attempted some of the drawing techniques multiple times, what have you learnt about drawing practice
-I acquired several skills in three months. I've tried it many times, so I think it's most important to be able to use these technologies when I design. For example, in order for me to design a landscape, as an illustration, I need to sketch ideas on paper and draw more detailed scenarios. One-point, two-point perspective techniques can also be included here. So in order to design in the future, I have to practice steadily without losing the sense of the skills I have learned.
