Concern over class sizes. Who is repeating art and when and how often. Building upon content throughout grade levels when not everyone has taken the course. (Ex. 8th grade students first time ever being in art class during middle school career)

I would love to borrow this idea from my colleague who discussed this topic but if I chose to put this type of program in place I would be required to work with these students at the beginning of the day which would leave no time in my schedule for planning/preparation. Our students with disabilities normally attend Encore classes with general education students with a teacher's aid. Normally the student does not participate in art at all. I believe there is an Adaptive PE class at the school.

Get along with my team well and have a great new admin willing and ready to support us in any way possible.

Those in charge of schedules do not take the recommendations seriously therefore, it has causes uneven class sizes, or students in higher levels that should not be there causing reteaching to happen when it shouldn't

No consistency

Offering Theatre in middle school is a strength. While we might not have it at every school, we are getting more theatre teachers in middle school, which is always a good thing.

The last few offerings for theatre PD (Paige Hernandez, Imagination Stage, and the mask work offered by Colgan teachers) have been engaging and eye opening. I would like more!

MS Drama as Performing Arts instead of Encore

In many middle schools, Drama is a part of the Encore rotation instead of the Performing Arts block, with music. I think we are missing an opportunity to run MS theatre arts programs like music- Performances twice a year from each grade level.

The class sizes make it difficult to teach all the things required to make theatre successful. With today's youth needing the kind of communication and collaboration skills that theatre programs offer, Theatre teachers would be more effective if class sizes were closer to that of core classes.

Even though our school has several art teachers our class sizes are large. There are also times where we will have one small class and one 32+ size class of the same grade level. It would be nice if it could be balanced.

Depending on a students schedule they may have art 2-3 times in the same school year. Sometimes even with the same teacher. Even with a different teacher we are still teaching the same standards etc.
