Examples - Gabi N. - Brenda

There are some examples of artists who became more creative after they developed a psychological disorder. For example, Brenda has psychosis and Karen has bipolar disorder. The artist can notice its difference by themselves. They can perceive(Pubmed, 2023).

1- Brenda: “I actually understand creativity in terms of creative thinking. So solution-oriented thinking, thinking out of the box, is very broad. And that can be very applicable in your whole life. If you have a technical problem, it is very different than if you have an emotional problem, for example, but they both ask for an answer or a solution or a creative interpretation to allow that process to continue. That's the gist of it for me.

2- Karen: “You can look at a thing from one side, but if you're creative, you can see it from at least 50 sides. That is creativity across the board. I think that everyone has creativity and that you can nurture it but you can also destroy it. (..) I think if you're encouraged to fantasize and play as a kid, creativity is nurtured, and if you're brought up in a very practical way or if people are being negative about what you're doing, you can break that early on” (Pubmed, 2023).
