What artistic struggles did you learn from?  As you pursue art for pleasure or maybe even as a future career, what subjects or new approaches would you like to try?
My most significant area of artistic growth is my improved ability to create lifelike portraits. I was able to create portraits before, but none that really matched the person I was trying to try. My portraits were never recognizable. The artistic struggle that I learned from was that for the first time I really had to worry about a deadline. I normally work very quickly, but having two projects to finish before winter break was very stressful. While neither project was required, one was a commission that I wanted to get done because I believed it was meant to be a Christmas present. In the future, I would like to work more with and improve in my use of pen and ink, specifically quill pens, because I really enjoyed using them this semester.
