         <description><![CDATA[<div>Legislative- Both are  bicameral, because they both have a Senate and a House of Representatives.<br>Executive- Presidents and governors can both only serve two, four year terms.<br>Judicial- Both have a supreme court.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Federal :</strong>   Article III of the Constitution invests the judicial power of the United States  and  creates the U.S. Supreme Court and gives Congress the authority to create the lower federal courts.<br><strong>State: </strong> The Constitution and laws of each state establish the state courts  Supreme Court, is usually the highest court. Some states also have an intermediate Court of Appeals. Below these appeals courts are the state trial courts. <br><strong>Federal:  </strong>Congress has used this power to establish the 13 U.S. Courts of Appeals, the 94 U.S. District Courts, the U.S. Court of Claims, and the U.S. Court of International Trade. U.S. Bankruptcy Courts handle bankruptcy cases.  A party may ask the U.S. Supreme Court to review a decision of the U.S. Court of Appeals.<br><strong>State: </strong> States also usually have courts that handle specific legal matters.  Parties dissatisfied with the decision of the trial court may take their case to the intermediate Court of Appeals.  Parties have the option to ask the highest state court to hear the case. <br><strong>Selection of Judges:</strong></div><ul><li> The Constitution states that federal judges are to be nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate.</li><li> State court judges are selected by election,  appointment for a given number of years.</li></ul><div><strong> Types of cases Heard:<br>Federal: </strong> Cases that deal with the constitutionality of a law,  Disputes between two or more states,  Habeas corpus issues<br><strong>State: </strong> criminal cases,  </div><ul><li>Most contract cases, tort cases , family law , etc.</li></ul><div>Judicial Branch are made up by courts and judges and are separated  three  court levels, District Courts, Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court .<br>Judges are choose by  the President and confirmed by the Senate .</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Houses: House of Representatives &amp; Senate. <br>Members: 100 Senators, 435 Representatives, 5 Delegates, and 1 Resident Commissioner. <br> House of Representatives Requirements: 25 years old, citizen for 7 years, be from the state they are representing. </div><div>Senate Requirements: 30 years old, citizens for at least 9 years and they must be residents from the state they are elected from. <br> </div><div>This is the part of the government that majorly deals with laws. It creates laws, debates laws and passes laws. </div><div>Standing Committees - deal with issues of permanent legislative concern</div><div>Conference committees - For a bill to become law both houses must approve it. When different versions of the bill are passed within the leaders and create a conference committee to reconcile the differences between the two bills.<br><br></div><div>Select committees - Deals with temporary issues, investigation.<br><br></div><div>Joint committees - joint committees consist of members of both houses usually created to deal with a specific issue.</div><div><br> </div><div><br> </div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> The chief executive at the state level is the governor and at the federal level is the president. <br>At the state level, the 2nd in command is the lieutenant governor and at the federal level, it’s the vice president. <br>The role of the executive branch is responsible for enforcing laws. The role of the president is to be the head of the government, the chief of state, chief executive, commander in chief, chief diplomat and party chief. <br>A presidential candidate must be at least 35 years old, a natural-born U.S. citizen, and have at least 14 years of residence in the United States.</div><div>The Cabinet includes the Vice President and the heads of 15 executive departments. </div><ul><li>Department of Homeland Security, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Secretary of Transportation, etc. </li></ul><div>Council of State: a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization in the United States that serves all three branches of state government.</div><ul><li>President of the Senate, Vice President </li></ul><div>The Council of State is a group of elected executive offices in North Carolina.It is separate from the North Carolina Cabinet, which is chosen by the Governor of North Carolina, and makes up the rest of the executive leadership of the government.</div><div><br> </div>]]></description>
