Standards based grading supports instruction by allowing teachers to identify exactly where students are struggling in their learning, or giving us a closer look at where we need to support our students. This in turn helps to personalize learning student to student. We are able to break students into groups based on their needs as we make note of where the support is needed. It also allows students to track their success as they move through the learning.

Standards-based grading can support both instruction and personalized learning by allowing parents, students and teachers to see how students are progressing within a given standard/cluster as well as how effectively we as educators are providing instruction. It allows educators to self reflect. Parents are able to see how their child is doing in a given standard/cluster as well as what they may need to improve and/or strengthen.
