1. Non-Renewable Energy Sources

These are sources that cannot be replaced quickly (they take millions of years to form):

Fossil Fuels:

Coal

Oil (Petroleum)

Natural Gas
→ Widely used for electricity, heating, transportation, but cause pollution and climate change.

Nuclear Energy

Comes from splitting uranium atoms (fission).

Produces a lot of energy with low emissions, but creates radioactive waste and has safety concerns.

2. Renewable Energy Sources

These are naturally replenished and more environmentally friendly:

Solar Energy

Captured using solar panels.

Clean and abundant, but depends on weather and time of day.

Wind Energy

Generated with wind turbines.

Clean, but only works well in windy areas.

Hydropower

Uses moving water (rivers or dams) to generate electricity.

Very efficient, but can impact ecosystems.

Biomass

Comes from organic materials like plants, wood, or animal waste.

Renewable but can cause emissions if burned.

Geothermal Energy

Uses heat from inside the Earth.

Reliable but only available in certain locations.

Why learn about energy sources?

To understand how electricity is made.

To make smart choices for the environment.

To plan for a sustainable future .
