Q: Define interaction design and describe how it is different from information architecture, product design and visual design.

Interaction design is the design of interaction between users and products. It is to create engaging and interactive experience between users and devices. It's about designing for the entire interconnected system: the device, the interface, the context, the environment, and the people.

Often abbreviated IxD, interaction design defines the structure and behavior of interactive systems. Interaction designers strive to create meaningful relationships between people and the products and services that they use, from computers, to mobile devices, to appliances, and beyond.

Identify one app that you use getting information/updating information online that you would not be able to perform on a website. From this app, list the category, features, what functions do you use and why, what you like about it as compared to other competitors.

A mobile application that I use is Moves. It automatically tracks my everyday life and exercise. Some features include the number of steps I take each day and the places I've been to. This is something I can't do on a website since it requires my location to be tracked wherever I go, which is only possible with the help of a smartphone that is with me everywhere I go. This app stands out to me because it is accurate in knowing what I have done and where I went on a particular day. For example, it is able to tell if I walked, cycled or ran. Unlike other similar tracking apps, it does not require a tracker that you have to wear on. All I need is my phone in my pocket or bag, which is of course with battery life. Sometimes, I forget about what I have done or went on a specific day. For instance, my friends may ask what I did over the past week. If I can't remember, I can simply look back on the app to see where have I been to help me recall what I was doing.
