Good point, James, although this group presentation may be a composite of individual reflections from Assessment 1 which may have resulted in a broader focus. Final analytic essays will need to link back in to the Reflection. DF9 members, you may have already developed an idea about how you are going to construct your final paper, DF9 but if not there is plenty to focus on from the comprehensive content in this poster. In analysing your reflected upon issue, you may like to de-construct one of the sections of your poster that is most closely associated with the focus of your topic from Assessment 1 and go into a more in-depth analysis there, For example, resistance to change. Why was there resistance to change in the issue that you might have reflected upon? What strategies could be implemented in that particular situation? How will you evaluate their effectiveness? Or you might include aspects of each section (four - not five) from your poster, in analysing the topic. For example, there might have been a planned change (brief background in different wording to Assessment 1), resulting in resistance to change and/or conflict among staff, which had a negative effect on other staff/patients (in what way?) and the conflict management style which would have been (or was) most effective in this situation was ... (or should have been ...) because effective leaders during periods of change "create platforms for open communication" by (for example, initiating an open door policy/setting aside time in each work for one-to-one discussion about any issues with staff ....

In change management we often consider the challenges encountered by leaders or the difficulties experienced by staff but you named the key danger; badly executed change places patients at risk.

Michelle Cooper

1/10/17

The poster is very clear and easy to read.

I really enjoyed reading and reflecting on the conflict management styles content box. The integrating management style is a great example that can be used in any work situation and is supportive of effective leadership, where a group is inspired to achieve a common goal (Northouse, 2016).

Rebekah Anderson 02/10/17

Reference
Northouse, P.

Post by Veronika Allen.
Thank you for an informative poster on a very important aspect to consider when large numbers of people work alongside each other. As you point out, conflict at times is inevitable. You have highlighted the need for management to provide open communication, and listen to the needs and grievances voiced by their staff. As you have identified conflict and dissatisfaction can lead to poor staff morale, absenteeism, and poor productivity. For an organization to be successful it need to have positive rolemodels to assist in creating and maintaining a positive organizational culture for all
Thank you for sharing.

Good work DF 9
The breakdown of your mark is:
Poster appearance 18/20
Poster Content 56/60
Good work. A lot of content but well presented. Perhaps including small headings in the ‘Resistance’ section would have been good, similar to the other three major sections and maybe reducing some of the content under each subheading. A reviewer at a conference would then have the option of casting their eye over the subheadings in all major sections which might help them decide to stay and read more or move on, having absorbed the general context very quickly. If any of you present this poster at a conference, with approval from all group members, I would consider reducing the references to 3-4 key sources. The font could then be made slightly larger and more readable although it is likely that when printed out in poster size, this should not be too much of a problem.

In regard to marks for peer review, those who scored higher on peer review did so because their peer review comments made a scholarly contribution to the poster content and was relevant to leadership issues within a health care environment. Students with higher marks on peer review tended to write comments that were designed to support the improvement of the other group’s work (scholarly contribution) rather than provide general commentary on what they liked about the poster. Commentary that was brief without strong evidence of constructive feedback did not attract high marks.
Katya and Sue 031017
