A Gift for Nana by Lane Smith: The main character, Rabbit, is searching for the perfect gift for his Nana. It is not a special occasion, or for any reason at all really, just out of the kindness of his heart to make her happy. He asks the other creatures of his habitat for advice, and they are kind enough to try to help him find the perfect gift. He ventures through and climbs a mountain, going through so much trouble to find the perfect gift. At last, at the top of the mountain, is a carrot. After his long journey however, he gets hungry and ends up gifting his Nana a half-eaten carrot which she loves all the same because it’s from him, and it’s a kind, genuine gesture.

However, much to his dismay, a little duckling who has never tried a hot dog, and who is very eager to try one, pesters him a little bit with questions about his hot dog, insinuating how much he wants some.
