First of all we're going to introduce you to a well known poem, we'll firstly

In its first three stanzas, "Dulce et Decorum est" presents a vision of war and more precisely World War I. That's entirely brutal, bitter and pessimistic. The fourth and final stanza marks a shift. While the first stanza are focused on the "we" of the regiment. The second focused on the "he" of the dying soldier, and the third is focused on "I" of the traumatized speaker. The fourth stanza focused on the "you"of the reader. Indeed, the speaker's also addressing the reader, trying to make them understand the crual reality of the war.
This is an effort to contradict what the speaker describes as the "old lie", the commonly held belief communicated in the lines of latin from the poet Horace, that war and dying in war is meaningful and full of glory.

In the first text of June 7 Advanced dressing Station called "Railway Dug-Outs" the soldier talks about the day he arrived on the field with the Canadian Field Ambulance and so rifles, pieces of equipment, ammunition limbers,... He describes what he sees on the battle field. In the second text, Private Frank Walker talks more about his emotions than the first text. For example he says "For 48 hours we have been working without stop". He speaks about the deaths laying on the field and wounded people in trenches and shell pits. One of the order they gave the soldiers was that the wounded must lie outside the Dressing Station. This shows the cruelty of the military who have no mercy. He finishes his text by saying that he only have 12 blessed hours which show the exitment for free time because they don't have much. In conclusion, this extract is based on a true story so it shows the reality of the War and its cruelty. We can feel the emotions and the worry of the soldiers.
