Thinking about the similarities and differences between studying in my home country and in the UK, i believe that: in terms of teaching styles both my country and bellerbys adopt an authority style- primarily used in a lecture or setting, whereby the teacher will give a lengthy, one-way discussion on a pre-assigned topic whilst students take notes and memorise key pieces of information.

However in terms differences I could say that bellerbys also adopts a facilitator learning style- where teachers apply a facilitator or activity-based style which encourages self-learning in the classroom through increased peer to teacher learning. Unlike the lecture style, teachers ask students to question rather than simply have the answer given to them. Activities are used to promote self-discovery and develop problem-solving skills, which I feel that leads us to a much deeper understanding of the topic.

I remember in the majority of our chemistry lessons Dr.Ralph Maguni ensuring we always had a question ready respectively about something that we didn’t understand or simply didn’t have a good imagery of, and he would always insist that we take out 1 hour and 45 minutes for chemistry daily so that we would be fresh and ready. I believe that this allowed me to develop the right mindset not only for chemistry but for the rest of my sujects(English,Maths,CIT,Biology)

In regards to workload given to us here: in both my science classes(Chemistry & Biology) I have a practical(experiment) every week , homework is properly distributed throughout the course and weekly assessment quizzes are given. It’s well set and thought through, giving us the time to revise but at the same time relax. In Angola the situation is different, as students have lots of heavy structured practicals over the week, overloaded homework and less testing.

Classes in Angola have an amount of 30 people per class while bellerby has an appropriate size that ranges from 10 to 12 people allowing closer interaction, communication and connection with people. Creating a much more affectious environment.

Regarding to friendships I would say that its all the same as people here and there are very friendly.

I expect to finish the year without any unexpected twist or dilemma as I am trying to complete my function as student.
https://i.pinimg.com/736x/0c/cf/8a/0ccf8a1acf1679d109881eb71176c3c4.jpg

My purpose for studying my science and pharmacy foundation course is that I intend to to study Medicine and graduate in surgery . And in my opinion as the weeks pass I become stronger and wiser perfecting my chances of succeeding.I see this as a profound opportunity to show everyone how much I am worth .

As the most meaningful aspect that I could extract the entire time I have spent in this foundation course is the fact that I now understand the art of learning and I believe that it totally changed the perspective that I have of Science. I have realised that in order for me to properly understand and memorise information, it is advised that I undergo three essential processes: repetition, data connection and structuralization . With repetition I am able to familiarize my brain with information, data connection which refers to the neural associations that we must provide to our brain by relating any piece of that to each other, and structure where we organize everything we know.

I also learned that weak and reckless effort will not take me anywhere. And I came to the conclusion that in bellerbys we are supposed to learn and develop our knowledge through intensive and reasonable research and analysis outside class and apply that to the test . For the remaining weeks I believe that I must invest more in my practice techniques and check my resources, so that I am able to generate the best solutions in accordance to questions in the test.

I am taught by the teachers through the coordinative exposure to content filled powerpoints, worksheets, practicals, homeworks and weekly tests.

Regarding tutor Mrs Cyma, I can assertively say she has been very helpful in terms of academic guidance and ethical issues, where we discussed about my Uni interview and my recent marks.
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BssMUnUQ4y0/UJvvgJVI0oI/AAAAAAAAp3g/KClxzBW35BU/s1600/surg.JPG

My plans are to be a surgeon when I take my masters. I intend to study biomedicine in university but would like to further academically dedicate my time to Medicine. So that is why I must complete this foundation course and then progress to a higher academic level.
The concepts, differences and similarities that I have found by far between academic English and general study are the following:

-Academic English' is the type of English you need for reading and understanding your study materials and writing about certain subjects. It may be used to describe very precisely an object or situation, to describe a process or how something works or simply explain something. Much of academic English is about expressing the relationship between ideas. In it academic writers aim to be as clear, precise and simple as possible. They think about what their readers know already, and aim to guide them towards less familiar areas and topics.-General English is merely focused on the basics or lets say fundamentals of teaching the language.

-In terms of similarities they both use the same language but aside from that they only have differences that revolve around the fact that they have different focus zones.I prefer the academic one has it focuses more on the studious side. I have found no difficulties or contradictions so far. I aspire to be much better English in the future. In my academic English(with Mr.Ross) lessons we are assessed on our linguistic, writing and speaking skills, by analysing different texts and performing multiple courseworks.
https://d1w7fb2mkkr3kw.cloudfront.net/assets/images/book/large/9789/8882/9789888208647.jpg

I have came to realise through the course that computer science is the study of computers and computational systems. Unlike electrical and computer engineers, computer scientists deal mostly with software and software systems; this includes theory, design, development, and application.

The main drive that would set me on studying this subject were the computational skills that would further be acquired and further applied in my working skills in school and career.

In these past lessons we went through the excel and completed 6 different assignments which include: Household Forecast(where we had to set up a spreadsheet, format columns and rows, enter simple calculation formulas and simply follow instructions carefully), US Cities/Population(where we had to create a clustered column chart, focus on formatting to make data clear and use simple AutoSum calculations), Tariq's Tariffs(where we had to understand the difference between relative and absolute referencing, use a spreadsheet as an analytical tool and experiment with vertical/horizontal expressions of data), Tourists to China(where we had to produce a column chart using selected data, add and change chart titles and labels, change chart styles, experiment with new chart types, pay attention to detail!), 6th Form Markbook( where we had to build on mathematical approach to data, use conditional formatting to highlight low/high marks, create formulas using IF to calculate results and use data sort to make your charts more tidy) and Cars 4 U worksheets(where we had to use absolute referencing, create formulas using IF to make comparisons, use data sort to show data more neatly and produce useful charts to reflect data).

Refleting upon all of this past work I believe it was very useful as I am now more built to work with excel than ever before. In my opinion I experienced no difficulty so far. Mr. Thomas through this whole time has been a very helpful and interactive but also funny and exciting tutor throughout this whole teaching time.
http://www.friendsofbest.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Computer-Science1.jpg

My CIT course at Bellerbys is segmented into 4 coursework assessments that include: Word processing, Excel, Blog and Learning Journals. As far as the other subjects, Chemistry is broken into chemistry 1 and 2; Biology into Microbiology and Physiology; and Maths into Pure Maths 1 and either M1 or S2. Looking back at these I have feel like the right choice was taken as regards to the type of info me and my classmates would learn as it matches our predestined uni choices.

Each subject with a subtopic set into each semester. It was understable the fact that each subject and teacher had their on appropriate teaching/learning structure and workload and motivated me to learn.

This Foundation experience has been so didactic that I am able to clearly differentiate my different subjects:

-Biology and Chemistry:Biology is the study of life, as it comprises all living things. Biology constitutes many branches and sub-disciplines that delve into the intricacies of how different species interact in an ecosystem, or the processes of evolution.Where Chemistry however is a study dedicated to discovering new substances of which matter is composed, exploring the properties of different substances, and investigating how different substances react to each other to create new ones. It is just as nuanced and complex as biology. Making both very attractive fields.

-CIT:I have came to realise through the course that computer science is the study of computers and computational systems. Unlike electrical and computer engineers, computer scientists deal mostly with software and software systems; this includes theory, design, development, and application.

-Academic English' is the type of English you need for reading and understanding your study materials and writing about certain subjects.

It may be used to describe very precisely an object or situation , a process or how something works or simply explain something.Much of academic English is about expressing the relationship between ideas. In it academic writers aim to be as clear, precise and simple as possible. They think about what their readers know already, and aim to guide them towards less familiar areas and topics.

-Pure Maths: mathematics is the study of such topics as quantity,[1] structure,[2]space,[1] and change by the use of reasoning through numerical values and formulas. Pure maths however studies entirely abstract concepts.

Throughout the route of this course I discovered a lot by myself. I have understood that even though a person wants to complete a goal, if he or she doesn’t feel like doing it they will most likely procrastinate, and that was my main struggle.Which would result in unproductivity. I also found out that I was very anxious about overall finishing stuff. Once u fix those two aspects by introducing proper management of work, patience and consistency, you get that done and have time for so much more.

I would say that two things that majorly changed were my dedication towards studies and my studying methods and skills that changed for the better: as I am now more focused every time I have any kind of lesson and can better study by the use of detailed notes with my new technique I like to call the ‘'Scrambler'' that compiles in a systematic group data, allowing me to quickly and profoundly memorise almost anything.

The relationships I have built in class I believe are very strong and will surely last for a while as I found great friends and mentors through the course:George with his awkwardness, Alina with her peacefulness, Ratu, Nawras and Luana with their energy, Chloe, Adiya and Daniel with their coolness, Mrs.Andrews with her care for students and Mr. Maguni and Mr. Thomas with their sense of humour.

Aside from being a better student I’m a better person thanks to this course.

The first moment I arrived to UK, the first thing I experienced was the cold temperature right the instance I exited the airplane.
It stroke me faster than a lightning. I had soon realised that for the rest of my stay in England the environment wasn’t going to be as hot as in my home country. However besides what most immigrants would have thought or assumed I felt, I remember having a warming sensation at the spot, as I was about to have a new start.
It was my very enjoyable first experience in UK.
My first social interaction too, showed up to be very delightful. I was crossing the border and I was solicited for my travelling documents before I could go get my luggage and leave the airport. I still remember the joy and happiness in the face of the old lady taking care of the process, despite her stressing job and probably consumed energy being ingrained in her body. I personally took that first interaction as very respectable.
In terms of first experience regarding Brighton, the city was exactly what I expected: a much hotter city compared to London, with a very active population and young vibe.
Before travelling I researched about the city and was very fascinated with the fact that it is home to Britain's oldest cinema, the Brighton Sealife Centre (world’s oldest aquarium) and the fact that it is the GAY capital in UK. All of that aroused my curiosity.
So I believe after all of this I could conclude that my impressions of Brighton.
https://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02456/snow-weather-road_2456685k.jpg

Perfect movie to cry and melt down if u are a girl or were named George to. I recommend that you watch it. Titanic is worth seeing.

Great film . I`m very keen on the history of the tragic Titanic. The movie is very close to the actual tragedy. It shows a beautiful love story with an extremely sad ending. The movie tells the dramatic story of the Titanic with Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet as the main actors.

In the year 1912 a young poor guy, Leonardo, travels by the gorgeous ship Titanic from London to New York with a big dream.

Really good reboot. Everything about it is on permanent overdrive, as exemplified by the oversaturated setting and terse cinematography. Some people have reviewed this and expressed distaste at Harold Perinneau's portrayal of Mercutio in favour of the 1968 John McEnery. Romeo, played by DiCaprio, was excellently cast and acted, providing a healthy balance between handsome and endearingly clumsy .
