En la clase estuvimos hablando de lo que significa tener fluidez lectora. Ellos saben que los sonidos hacen sílabas, éstas palabras, y que muchas palabras hacen oraciones. Me enorgullece mucho ver cómo están adquiriendo este conocimiento. Es importante que entiendan cómo se construye y no sea un conocimiento memorístico que luego de las vacaciones se olvide.

Para las vacaciones de invierno, envié a la casa un libro para practicar sílabas y palabras con las letras M, P, S, L T. Espero que lo sigan trabajando 5 minutos a diario. Hoy les enviaré uno parecido con nuevas letras. Por ahora conocerán las letras B, D, N y V. Estos libritos también los tenemos en la clase y trabajamos en grupo pequeño, por lo que no deberían ser algo nuevo para ellos.

In class we talked about what it means to be fluent in reading. They know that sounds make up syllables, these words, and that many words make up sentences. I am very proud to see how they are acquiring this knowledge. It is important that they understand how it is built and that it is not rote knowledge that is forgotten after the holidays.

For winter break, I sent home a book to practice syllables and words with the letters M, P, S, L T. I hope you will continue working on it for 5 minutes a day. Today I will send you a similar one with new letters. By now they will already know the letters B, D, and N. We also have these little books in class and we work in a small group, so they should not be something new for them.
