I try to model growth mindset by showing videos about growth mindset/not giving up/perseverance...as well as reading mentor texts that focus on this topic. I try to have conversations with kids about the characters that are showing growth mindset and connect it to their own lives. I use their learning portfolios to track their progress, but also make sure to talk about how they may not be there YET but with more practice, effort, and learning they will be there when they are ready... that sort of thing. :)

I try to encourage and support students in their learning and to help them to realize that mistakes are a part of learning. I would and should definitely include more direct teaching on growth mindset, so any resources shared here will be greatly appreciated.

As young as kindergarten, I see students that give up so easily, that shut down when they make a mistake. It is so important for us to model and directly teach a growth mindset. We need to show students that mistakes are learning opportunities and that growth is key. I need to incorporate more of this into my teaching, and any ideas shared here will be greatly appreciated!
