1. I learned about the different types of motivation, and inquiry. I also learned about different resources for inquiry ideas.
2. One inquiry I liked that someone else posted was "Maps and Globes". We use them quite a bit in ESL, when discussing about our cultures, and also when it comes up in Social Studies. I love that this encourages comparing and contrasting, a language task very much needed to teach academic language.

Two things I learned:
1. C3 teachers website. I really like the spreadsheet. I will refer back to that as reference. It lined up with many Kindergarten units.
2. Inquire can still be utilized through distant learning and not just used in the classroom.

Highlight:
I chose to highlight the Inquire Kits Kristin reported on. I liked her idea of using them at the end of the year for free choice after students have been taught the material. I have younger students so I found it interesting to see how inquire can be used with older and more independent students.

Two new things I learned are:
1. I learned what an inquiry based approach to learning is and how it can be incorporated in different classrooms and grade levels
2. There are many ready-made inquiry ideas and websites that I can utilize in my classroom

Highlight:
I liked Kristin's inquiry highlight of "Together When We are Apart" by having the students documenting their remote learning experience through a picture journal or daily FlipGrid journal. My student's love FlipGrid so I think that's something they would enjoy.

1. I learned that how we phrase questions for our students can guide their inquiry learning. Often we use "Essential Questions", but this got me thinking about the term "Compelling Question" instead. I think that the basis of inquiry learning is to tap into something that sparks interest in the students, and creating questions in this way is key to making that work.
2. I learned that there are a ton of inquiry resources out there, and many of these in particular give access to some amazing primary sources. I think that sometimes finding primary sources digitally is difficult. This course has helped direct me to some places where I might find more.

Highlight:

I really enjoyed reading what Katherine and Christina found about Essential Workers. I never really thought about using Inquiry Based Learning for such simple foundation concepts but loved the idea!

I learned more about student motivation. A lot of the concepts I knew and instinctively used but I learn that is is so much more to know/research with student motivation. I plan to keep this in mind with working with student who struggle with “I won’t” vs. “I can’t.” I also learned more about how to scaffold inquiry. As I stated before, I really loved the scaffolding visual with the swimming lessons. It made so much sense as to how we need to scaffold inquiry so that the students can eventually be independent but that independence should not be expected immediately.

I found the inquiry about essential workers that Cassandra found very interesting. Not only is it so meaningful in the world we are living in but it connects perfectly to the curriculum about community. I think all of us have learned a great deal about who truly is an essential worker and the importance of every member of the community. This inquiry is very relevant!

1. I had some concepts regarding student motivation reinforced. Specifically, the idea that assignments need to be relevant to the students' CURRENT situation.
2. I found the inquiries regarding Free and Global Trade to be interesting and the concepts valuable to my students who are learning how to design and manufacture products.
