I also really appreciated the idea of realness and authenticity that these balls and houses really aspired too. It didn't matter what you wanted to be. Having all of that help set the scene and put yourself into an unfamiliar setting. Throw showing a variety of different experiences within the community through very personal lenses and stories, Livingston draws the audience in and makes human gay and transgender black people in america who often were not treated as such, and still lack respect today.
