She tells the story of how this one-sided relationship has left her doubting her worth and constantly wondering why she wasn't enough. In the lyrics, she uses the appeals of Logos and Ethos, and in the video, she uses the appeals of Ethos and Pathos to share her message. This tells the audience from the very beginning that she is going through something and that it is having a negative effect on her. As the song continues, there are lines such as "I get so lonely I forget what I'm worth / I'm so ashamed of myself think I need therapy" that tell us she is going through something that makes her rethink who she is as a person. Not only is she upset about the breakup, but she is also upset with the things she is choosing to do as ways to cope. These lines in particular say that she pushes her self worth to the side in order to feel good. SZA saying he has karma coming to him says that he is probably dealing with other consequences that have been caused by his actions. Other lyrics such as "We get so lonely we pretend that this works" is saying that even though they both know they shouldn't be together, they still are because they find a sense of comfort in each other. They would much rather be miserable together than miserable apart.
